Introduction: Radioactive iodine (RAI) has been utilized for nearly 80 years in treating both hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer, and it continues to play a central role in the management of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) today. Recently, the use of RAI therapy for indolent, low-risk DTC has generated considerable debate. This case-control study evaluated the therapeutic response in DTC patients, comparing outcomes between those who received RAI therapy and those who did not.

We conducted a retrospective analysis on 21 patients with acromegaly who underwent surgery and subsequent pharmacological treatment. Through immunohistochemistry (IHC), we assessed the expression of the somatostatin receptor subtypes SSTR2 and SSTR5, E-Cadherin, and cytokeratin granulation pattern (sparsely or densely).

The study aimed to analyze correlations between patient characteristics, particularly their history of bone modifying agent use or local radiotherapy during cancer treatment, in order to identify specific patient profiles that could aid in evaluating treatment response and guide individualized treatment strategies.
Methods: Fifty-two patients diagnosed with ONJ were included in the study.
Sunitinib is commonly used in the treatment of patients with renal cell carcinoma and is associated with serious side-effects. We present the first report of a recurrent submandibular fistula in a patient treated with sunitinib. A 68-year-old man was referred to our clinic for a cutaneous fistula situated on the right side of his lower jaw.

Our results showed that the type of fracture and its respective surgical procedure as well as hospital characteristics correlate with mortality. Updated incidences can result in updated treatment guidelines.

It has a variety of different histological subtypes, the most frequent one being differentiated thyroid cancer, which refers to papillary carcinoma, the most common histological type, followed by follicular carcinoma. Associations between genetic polymorphisms and thyroid cancer have been investigated over the years and are an intriguing topic for the scientific world.

We aimed to conduct an observational cross-sectional study investigating the associations between biochemical disease control, associated comorbidities, and symptoms severity on QoL in a cohort of acromegalic patients.
Methods: Thirty-one patients with acromegaly were enrolled in our study.

Context: Parental history of osteoporosis is associated with an increased risk of fracture. However, there are not many data on the mechanism of action. Our objective was to determine if heredity influences fracture rate: independently or through the bone mineral density; to identify also the strongest independent risk factors of osteoporotic fractures among our study population.

Introduction: Fine needle aspiration (FNA) is fundamental in the pre-operative assessment of thyroid nodules. However, the shining success of thyroid FNA is occasionally eclipsed by false positive (FP) cytological diagnoses. We describe our experience regarding FP cytological diagnoses and present a literature review concerning FP rates.

Recent studies have analyzed the impact of the two adipokines, RBP4 (retinol binding protein 4) and STRA6 (stimulated by retinoic acid 6) in pediatric obese subjects with contradictory results.
Methods: An observational study was conducted in the Pediatric and Endocrinology Departments, Targu-Mures, Romania, including 213 children between 5-17 years of age, divided into two groups according to body mass index (BMI) standard deviation score (SDS): case (overweight or obese) and control (normal SDS).

Context: Several studies have addressed the impact of sarcopenia on various health outcomes. As the most critical issue is the early identification of individuals, a short screening tool may help clinicians to simply test for sarcopenia and start early management of the disease. Recently, a simple questionnaire, Sarc-F was provided that may adequately realize this aim.

Context: Permanent hypocalcemia is a rare but significant complication of thyroid surgery.
Objective: The aim of this study was to identify predictive factors of hypocalcemia and hypoparathyroidism after thyroidectomy.
Design: Study included 134 total patients submitted to thyroidectomy from two endocrine units (January 2015 - August 2016).
Introduction: The impact of the two adipokines, visfatin and retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP-4) on bone mineral density (BMD) has been analysed in various studies with conflicting results. Visfatin is highly expressed in visceral fat with stimulatory effect on osteoblast proliferation and inhibition on osteoclast formation, while RBP-4 acts as a transporter protein for retinol, associated with changes in insulin sensitivity, independent of obesity, with no consensus on its effect on bone metabolism. We evaluated the relationship between serum concentrations of visfatin, RBP-4, markers of insulin resistance and current BMD in treated postmenopausal osteoporosis (PO).

Introduction: A hypercalcaemic crisis, also called para thyrotoxicosis, hyper parathyroid crisis or parathyroid storm, is a complication of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) and an endocrinology emergency that can have dramatic or even fatal consequences if it is not recognised and treated in time.
Case Presentation: Two cases presented in the emergency department with critical hypercalcaemic symptoms and severe elevation of serum calcium and parathyroid hormone levels, consistent with a hypercalcaemic crisis. The first case, a 16-year-old female patient, had imaging data that highlighted a single right inferior parathyroid adenoma and a targeted surgical approach was used.

The aim of the present study was to translate ThyPRO and ThyPRO-39 into Romanian, and to evaluate reliability and cross-cultural validity.
Methods: Standard methodology for translation and linguistic validation of patient-reported outcomes (PRO) was applied.

Purpose Of Investigation: Cervical cancer is one of the most frequent malignant diseases diagnosed during pregnancy. Abdominal or vaginal radical trachelectomies are fertility-preserving alternatives to radical hysterectomy for young women with early-stage cervical cancer that can be performed during ongoing pregnancy.
Material And Methods: The authors report a pregnancy complicated by cervical cancer treated by abdominal radical trachelectomy (ART) at 16-17 gestational weeks with preservation of the concurrent pregnancy.

Unlabelled: There are no new national growth references for the Romanian population and the current recommendations for short stature evaluation is the use of the Swiss growth charts developed based on a longitudinal study. The aim of the present paper is to present the new synthetic growth references for Romanian children.
Material And Methods: We used local Romanian data from 9 studies with information on height and weight obtained between 1999 and 2016.
Objective: To compare results of treatment of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) in two teaching hospitals (eastern and western Europe) and to establish conclusions regarding quality of surgery for PHPT in Romania.
Methods: We reviewed two prospectively collected databases of patients submitted to open minimally invasive parathyroidectomy (OMIP) for symptomatic PHPT in two centers from Romania and the United Kingdom (UK). We included patients with biochemically proven PHPT and positive pre-operative localization studies.
Aim: High-quality national representative data on obesity in Romanian children are needed to shape public health policies. To provide a unified data landscape on national prevalence, trends and other factors associated with underweight, overweight, and obesity in Romanian children aged 6-19 years, across the last decade (2006-2015).
Methods: Using a common protocol, we selected published and unpublished studies that measured Romanian children in schools between 2006 and 2015.
Introduction: The need for parathyroidectomy remains high in the group of patients on long-term dialysis with medically refractory secondary hyperparathyroidism (sHPT). We aim to compare the results after subtotal parathyroidectomies (sPtx) and total parathyroidectomies with autotransplant (tPtx + AT) performed for sHPT at a single referral centre.
Material And Methods: This prospective study comparatively analysed sPtx and tPtx + AT performed in our department between February 2010 and December 2014.

Introduction: The relationship between rhGH treatment and thyroid function has been the subject of numerous studies. Some say that rhGH treatment unmasks central hypothyroidism, other say that rhGH induces subclinical primary hypothyroidism.
Aim: To assess the changes in thyroid function in short stature children in the first year of treatment with rhGH and the impact on growth velocity.
