[Links between mental disorders and the use of disability allowances and services in France].

Introduction: The French social system offers many kinds of allowances and support (in work, everyday life and social life fields) to persons with disabilities. People with severe mental disorders are often considered as having less access than other disabled persons to the various forms of compensation offered by the national solidarity system. Purpose of research : Our objective was to study, for people with diverse kinds of mental disorders, those who are frequent users of support devoted to disability.

Do socioeconomic disparities in stroke and its consequences decrease in older age?

Background: Overall decreased socioeconomic status (SES) has been linked to increased stroke incidence and mortality. Questions remain regarding whether these relationships persist into older age and apply to stroke sequelae. It is also unknown whether the influence of SES on absolute risk-the metric of most importance for population health-differs by age.

Reference to ICIDH in French surveys on disability.

This article deals with the development of a basis for data collection and statistics on disability in France. After having recalled the first attempts to establish statistics on disability, highlighting the lack of a reliable conceptual basis, its shows how ICIDH spread out from the geriatrics research field to the disability research field, followed by public management of disability and health care, and recently by the national statistics administration. The article aims at showing that the use of ICIDH always needed adaptations to fit in the forms of data collection and questionnaires.
