Effect of intramuscular injection of human chorionic gonadotropin on endometrium preparation in frozen-thawed embryo transfer cycle: A randomized clinical trial.

Background: Assisted reproductive therapy (ART) has been developed remarkably in these decades; however, the rate of unsuccessful embryo implantation especially in the frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) cycles remains high and is reported up to 70%. The current study was designed to compare the effect of intramuscular injection of hCG on endometrium preparation and embryo implantation, in women undergoing FET compared to the control group.

Methods: This clinical trial was done on 140 infertile women that underwent FET.

Exercise-induced electrocardiographic changes after treadmill exercise testing in healthy children: A comprehensive study.

Background: Treadmill exercise testing is a crucial diagnostic tool for evaluating congenital and acquired heart disease in the pediatric population. This study aimed to perform a comprehensive evaluation of exercise-induced electrocardiographic (ECG) changes in children. Although there are numerous studies on exercise testing in various cardiac pathologies, studies on exercise-induced ECG changes in normal children with coverage of all ECG parameters of atrial and ventricular depolarization and repolarization are very scant, if any.

Pulsatility Index in Different Modifications of Fontan Palliation: An Echocardiographic Assessment.

Background: Adding pulsation to the Fontan circulation might change the fate of patients palliated by this procedure. Our aim was to compare the pulsatility index (PI) of the pulmonary artery (PA) between the various modifications of Fontan palliation.

Methods: Doppler-derived PI was measured in PA branches of a cohort of 28 patients palliated by 6 modifications of Fontan procedure.

The advantage of fresh frozen plasma (FFP) inclusion in pump prime has been shown in post-CPB coagulation management.

A case of catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia masquerading as an intractable seizure.

A 5-year-old boy with the history of intractable seizure for the past 2 years was transferred to the emergency room for cardiopulmonary resuscitation because of the prolonged seizure and profound cyanosis. He was intubated and resuscitated by cardioversion for a bizarre shape ventricular tachycardia (VT). After noxious stimulation, he showed multiple polymorphic ventricular premature beats that were followed by a bidirectional VT in favor of catecholaminergic polymorphic VT.

Incidence and Etiology of Stroke among Hospitalized Children: A Case-Series Study.

Objectives: Stroke is a sudden blockage or rupture of brain vessels resulting neural defect or impairment. We aimed to investigate the incidence and causes of stroke in hospitalized children (Tehran-Iran, 2008-2013).

Materials & Methods: This case series study was carried out in pediatric ward of tertiary care Vali-Asr Hospital, Imam Khomeini Hospitals Complex (Tehran- Iran) from 2008 to 2013.

Echocardiographic Assessment of Pulmonary Arteries Pulsatility Index in Fontan Circulation.

Background: Late complications after Fontan procedure may be due to the absence of pump and pulsatile pulmonary blood flow in this type of palliation. Our aim was to quantify the degree of pulsation by echocardiographic method in patients with extracardiac total cavopulmonary connection (ECTCPC) in comparison with biventricular circulation and few cases of pulsatile Fontan.

Methods: In a case series study, pulsatility index (PI) derived by echocardiographic method were compared between 20 patients with ECTCPC, 6 patients with pulsatile Fontan and 18 normal individual aged 4 to 20 years old.

Early onset of tuberous sclerosis with chylous ascites: a case report.

Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) is an autosomal-dominant hereditary disorder. This syndrome is characterized by tumor-like malformations in several organs, as well as the heart. This report summarizes a case of TSC in a premature infant, born at 34 weeks' gestation with ascites.

Incidence and etiology of chylothorax after congenital heart surgery in children.

Background: Chylothorax is a rare but serious postoperative condition with a high rate of morbidity and may lead to the mortality of children undergoing congenital heart disease (CHD) surgery. This study evaluated the specific surgical procedures associated with the higher risk of postoperative chylothorax.

Methods: We assessed 435 cases undergoing CHD surgery between April 2003 and May 2006.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed among 6-12 year old healthy primary schoolchildren in Tehran during the academic year 2005-2006.

Avoiding cardiopulmonary bypass in extracardiac cavopulmonary connection: does it really matter?

Objectives: We examined the effect of avoiding cardiopulmonary bypass on the early outcome variables after fenestrated extracardiac total cavopulmonary connection.

Methods: Between May 2001 and January 2009, 102 patients with univentricular heart physiology underwent fenestrated extracardiac total cavopulmonary connection. Patients were divided into one of 2 groups: the cardiopulmonary bypass (n = 48) group and the no cardiopulmonary bypass (n = 54) group.
