Objective: Perinatal mental and anxiety disorders (PMADs) contribute to adverse health outcomes, though they are underrecognized and undertreated. Inpatient obstetric settings represent a unique opportunity for behavioral health engagement, including screening, brief treatment, and referrals for outpatient care. The proactive consultation-liaison (CL) model has proven effective in general hospital settings but is not well-studied in obstetric settings.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explores how the geometry of the pelvis and femur affects the impact loads during sideways falls, specifically in relation to hip fractures.
  • No significant links were found between skeletal geometry and the overall peak impact force from falls; however, certain geometric features did influence the distribution of impact loads and the forces experienced by the femur.
  • The findings suggest that understanding these relationships can help in designing better protective measures, like hip protectors, and improving models of fall impacts.

Background: Multidrug resistant K. pneumoniae, particularly the extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) producing strains, are often responsible for the failure of antibiotic treatment in nosocomial infections. Employing molecular methods to distinguish between ESBL and non-ESBL producing isolates can help quick identification of these multidrug resistant pathogens and thereby initiating appropriate antibiotic therapy.
