Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the long-term survival and health outcomes of children with esophageal atresia using Okamoto's classification beyond immediate survival rates, which have been the focus of prior research.
  • A total of 106 children were observed over one year after surgery, with specific attention to how well Okamoto's classification predicted survival and complication rates.
  • Findings revealed that children in higher risk categories (Class IV) experienced significantly more mortality (75%) and health issues like poor weight gain and respiratory infections compared to those in lower risk categories (Class I).
