Peri-Operative Hypothermia in Trauma Patients: A Retrospective Cohort Analysis at a Busy District General Hospital Within the National Health Service (NHS).

Introduction:  Perioperative hypothermia is defined as a patient's core body temperature of less than 36°C, which can lead to several complications. Even mild hypothermia increases the incidence of post-operative wound infection, post-operative ischaemic cardiac events and intra-operative blood loss and prolongs post-operative recovery. It is, hence, essential to maintain and provide normothermia during the perioperative phases for optimal surgical results and patient satisfaction.

Scourge of tuberculosis: A rare case of simultaneous chylothorax and chylous ascites.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a rare cause of chylothorax and chylous ascites. This is a case of simultaneous TB-chylothorax and chylous ascites in a 20-year-old patient who had been diagnosed with disseminated Multi-Drug Resistant (MDR) Tuberculosis two years ago. Abdominal distention with horseshoe-shaped dullness was found on examination.

Complication of Hepatic Hydatid Cyst Surgery Presenting as Obstructive Jaundice.

The liver is the commonest organ affected by hydatid disease. We report a rare case of a 25-year-old female patient who was treated surgically for hepatic echinococcosis two weeks ago with laparoscopic excision of hepatic hydatid cyst with marsupialization and omentoplasty. She then presented with features of obstructive jaundice, which is a known complication following hydatid endocystectomy.
