Comparison of combination of cimetidine and levamisole with cimetidine alone in the treatment of recalcitrant warts.

Various immunomodulating agents have been used in the treatment of recalcitrant warts, but none is uniformly effective. Drugs like cimetidine and levamisole have been tried with varying success rates. Given the different target activities of immunomodulation by levamisole and cimetidine, we questioned whether the combination might be more effective and conducted this double-blind comparative trial of a combination of cimetidine and levamisole versus cimetidine alone.

Short term treatment of pityrosporum folliculitis with itraconazole.

We compared the efficacy and safely of short-term itraconazole with that of placebo in 26 patients of pityrosporum folliculitis. Twenty-six patients of mycologically proven pityrosporum folliculitis entered a double-blind placebo-controlled trial. Patients were randomly assigned to 7 days of treatment with either itraconazole, 200 mg once daily, or placebo.

Linear focal elastosis.

A case of linear focal elastosis is reported. A 19-year old male presented with asymptomatic, palpable yellow lines over back along with striae distensae over axilla. Light microscopic examination demonstrated dermal thickening but no change in the epidermis.

Combination of PUVAsol and topical calcipotriol in vitiligo.

Background: A large variety of therapeutic agents are being tried for the treatment of vitiligo, but psoralens continue to be mainstay of treatment although they are not uniformly effective. Recent advances in pathophysiology have established a perturbed calcium homeostasis in affected skin, and melanocytes were shown to express vitamin D3 receptors.

Objective: The purpose of present study was to determine the efficacy of the combination of PUVAsol with topical calcipotriol in the treatment of vitiligo.

Murray williams warts.

A case of eruptive acanthoma also known as Murray Williams warts is being reported in a 35-year old male following contact allergic dermatitis to air borne allergens.

Comparison of topical tretinoin and betamethasone in oral lichen planus.

Thirty-one patients of oral lichen planus were enrolled in this study and two groups were made. Group 1 consisting of 16 patients who applied topical tretinoin 0.05% and Group 2 comprising of 15 patients who were given topical betamethasone dipropionate 0.

Progressive reticulate zosteriform hyperpigmentation.

A 24-year-old healthy Bengali woman presented with progressive, macular tanned lesions in a zosteriform pattern located upon her right upper limb, breast and chest. The biopsy from the tanned lesion showed mild increase in the pigment in the basal layer.

Porokeratosis of mibelli in a family.

The occurrence of porokeratosis of Mibelli in all members of a family when only one parent (mother) had the disease is reported. The 17 members of the third generation are still under 17 years of age and have not revealed any lesions of porokeratosis.

Papuloerythroderma of ofuji.

A 62-year old female had intensely pruritic eruption consisting of widespread coalescing sheets of uniform erythematous papules with characterstic sparing of body folds (deck-chair sign). Papuloerhthroderma of Ofuji is a rare disease of unknown aetiology.
