Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is linked to various health conditions, including cardiovascular diseases and metabolic disorders. Hyperuricemia and gout may be associated with OSA, but large-scale studies on this are limited. This study aimed to investigate the association between hyperuricemia/gout and OSA using data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Survey (KNHANES).

In upper normal TSH levels, thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) stimulation test proved to be useful in identifying an exaggerated TSH response.
Objective: We aimed to evaluate the incidence and predictive ability of basal TSH, anti-thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPOAb), and anti-thyroglobulin antibodies (TgAb) for exaggerated TRH stimulation test in SCH.

Unlabelled: There is a critical need for treatment strategies to combat carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative pathogens. This study investigates the efficacy of combining low concentrations of colistin with tigecycline against colistin- and carbapenem-resistant and strains. We used two strains of KPC-2-producing and OXA-23-producing , both of which are highly colistin-resistant.

Current treatments, such as bisphosphonates, are effective but associated with adverse effects like medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw, necessitating safer alternatives.
Methods: This study investigated the use of L-serine-incorporated gelatin sponges for bone regeneration in calvarial defects in an ovariectomized rat model of osteoporosis.
Though Capsaicin from chili peppers was known to have antitumor effects in several cancers, the underlying antitumor pathogenesis of Capsaicin is not clear to date. Thus, the antitumor mechanism of Capsaicin was explored in Hep3B and Huh7 hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells in relation to c-Myc/monocarboxylate transporter 4 (MCT4) signaling. To elucidate the antitumor mechanism of capsaicin, cytotoxicity assay, cell cycle analysis, Western blotting, RT-qPCR, RNA interference, ELISA, immunoprecipitation, and mouse xenograft model were used in this work.

By employing the Mooney-Rivlin, Ogden, and Yeoh hyperelastic models, we evaluated the mechanical behavior of EPDM and LSR under conditions of no aging, heat aging, and combined heat- and sulfuric-acid exposure. Each model revealed distinct sensitivities to stress distribution and material deformation, with peak von Mises stress values indicating that LSR experiences higher internal stress than EPDM across all conditions.

The initial diagnosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma is important, and its prognosis is poor when accompanied by metastasis. However, research on the mechanisms of oral squamous cell carcinoma metastasis is insufficient.

Melanogenesis, essential for skin photoprotection and pigmentation, can lead to disorders like melasma and hyperpigmentation, which are challenging to treat and affect quality of life. Docosatrienoic acid (DTA), a polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acid, has been identified as a potential regulator of skin aging. This study investigates DTA's effects on melanogenesis and its underlying molecular mechanisms using in silico and in vitro analyses.

In our model, the anti-glycolytic mechanism of GF2 was investigated in human cervical cancer cells in association with miR193a-5p and the β-catenin/c-Myc/Hexokinase 2 (HK2) signaling axis. Here, GF2 exerted significant cytotoxicity and antiproliferation activity, increased sub-G1, and attenuated the expression of pro-Poly (ADPribose) polymerase (pro-PARP) and pro-cysteine aspartyl-specific protease (procaspase3) in HeLa and SiHa cells.

Methods: This multi-center retrospective study included RA patients receiving abatacept or csDMARDs who underwent at least two pulmonary function tests and/or chest high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT). We compared the following outcomes between the groups: progression of RA-ILD, development of new ILD in RA patients without ILD at baseline, 28-joint Disease Activity Score with the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (DAS28-ESR), and safety.
Background And Purpose: The wearing-off (WO) phenomenon is the most common motor complication in advanced Parkinson's disease (PD), but its identification remains challenging. The 9- and 19-item Wearing-off Questionnaires (WOQ-9 and WOQ-19) are self-assessment tools for motor and nonmotor symptoms that are widely used for WO screening. We produced Korean versions of the WOQ-19 and WOQ-9 (K-WOQ-19 and K-WOQ-9) and investigated their validity and reliability.

CPSF6 was overexpressed in HCC tissues with poor survival rates compared to normal tissues. Hence, CPSF6 depletion suppressed cell viability and colony formation, induced apoptosis via PARP cleavage, and increased the sub-G1 population of Hep3B and Huh7 cells.

However, the advantages of WT during phone use and the specific demographic that can fully benefit from this technology has not been thoroughly evaluated. We aimed to investigate the benefits and identify predictive factors associated with bilateral wireless streaming among hearing aid users.

Methods: A prospective cohort study of very-low-birth-weight infants born at 22-29 weeks' gestation who received PH-specific treatment during hospitalization. Infants were classified using a two-step cluster analysis based on gestational age (GA), small-for-gestational-age (SGA), exposure to antenatal corticosteroids (ACS), histologic chorioamnionitis (HCA), and oligohydramnios.
Though Isoimperatorin from is known to have antiviral, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory and antitumor effects, its underlying antitumor mechanism remains elusive so far. Hence, the apoptotic mechanism of Isoimperatorin was explored in hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs). In this study, Isoimperatorin inhibited the viability of Huh7 and Hep3B HCCs and increased the subG1 apoptotic portion and also abrogated the expression of pro-poly-ADP ribose polymerase (pro-PARP) and pro-caspase 3 in Huh7 and Hep3B cells.

In this paper, the apoptotic mechanism of a water extract from the dried root of (WAM) was investigated in prostate cancer cells in association with heat shock protein 27 (HSP27)/androgen receptor (AR) signaling. WAM increased cytotoxicity and the sub-G1 population, cleaved poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) and cysteine aspartyl-specific protease 3 (caspase 3), and attenuated the expression of B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) in LNCaP cells after 24 h of exposure.
