Io experiences tidal deformation due to its eccentric orbit around Jupiter, which provides a primary energy source for Io's ongoing volcanic activity and infrared emission. The amount of tidal energy dissipated within Io is enormous and has been hypothesized to support the large-scale melting of Io's interior and the formation of a global subsurface magma ocean. If Io has a shallow global magma ocean, its tidal deformation would be much larger than in the case of a more rigid, mostly solid interior.

The design of a compact 2 × 2 diamond matrix with independent and redundant pixels optimized for the spectrometric neutron camera of the SPARC tokamak is presented in this article. Such a matrix overcomes the constraints in dynamic range posed by the size of a single diamond sensor while keeping the ability to perform energy spectral analysis, marking a significant advancement in tokamak neutron diagnostics. A charge pre-amplifier based on radio frequency amplifiers based on InGaP technology transistors, offering up to 2 GHz bandwidth with high robustness against radiation, has been developed.

Over the past years, fluorescence microscopy (FM) has steadily progressed in increasing the localization precision of fluorescent emitters in biological samples and led to new claims, whose rigorous validation remains an outstanding problem. We present a novel, to the best of our knowledge, multi-parameter estimation framework that captures the full complexity of a single-emitter FM localization experiment. We showcase our method with Minimum Flux (MINFLUX) microscopy, among the highest-resolution approaches, demonstrating that (i) the localization precision can be increased only by turning the illumination intensity up, thus increasing the risk of photo-bleaching, and it is independent from the beams' separation, and (ii) in presence of background noise, the localization precision decreases with the beams' separation.

The close phylogenetic relationship between ascidians (Tunicata) and vertebrates makes them a powerful model for studying the innate immune system. To better understand the nature and dynamics of immune responses and the mechanisms through which bacterial infections are detected and translated into inflammation in , we applied an approach combining in vivo lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation, immune-labelling techniques and functional enzymatic analyses. The immunohistochemistry showed that Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB) were expressed during the inflammatory pharynx response 4 h post-LPS, with the formation of nodules in pharynx vessel lumen.

Acute promyelocytic leukemia is a rare form of acute myeloid leukemia in which immature promyelocytes abnormally proliferate in the bone marrow. In most cases, the disease is characterised by the translocation t(15;17) (q24;q21), which causes the formation of PML::RARA, an oncogenic fusion protein responsible for blocking myeloid differentiation and survival advantage. Here, we present a case of acute promyelocytic leukemia with two unusual features: basophilic differentiation and a three-way translocation involving chromosomes 12, 15 and 17.
