Preeclampsia, a gestational associated hypertension, has been reported in 6-8% of pregnant women worldwide leading to premature delivery and low birth weight of newborn due to reduced blood flow to placenta. Although several vasodilators (Methyl dopa, hydralazine, β-blockers and diuretics) are currently in use to treat preeclampsia, still there is a search for safer drugs with better efficacy. Lately, antihypertensive vasodilators from natural sources are gaining importance in treating preeclampsia.

Parasitic diseases, including malaria, leishmaniasis, and trypanosomiasis, continue to plague populations worldwide, particularly in resource-limited settings and disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations. It has limited the use of conventional health-care delivery and disease control approaches and necessitated exploring innovative strategies. In this direction, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative tool with immense promise in parasitic disease control, offering the potential for enhanced diagnostics, precision drug discovery, predictive modeling, and personalized treatment.

Context: Diabetic retinopathy, a form of microvasculopathy, is the leading cause of the visual abnormality. However, there is no conclusive evidence of the relationship of systemic vascular dysfunction with retinal microvasculopathy. In addition, diabetes-associated cardiac autonomic neuropathy may also compromise vascular function.

Article Synopsis
  • Hidrocystomas are infrequent benign cystic tumors originating from sweat glands, and this case is unique as it involves the nasolacrimal duct, which has not been previously reported.
  • A 28-year-old woman with no major medical history had a growing mass near her right lower eyelid for two years, leading to a CT scan that revealed soft tissue in the nasolacrimal duct.
  • After surgically removing the cyst, the histopathological examination confirmed it was an apocrine hidrocystoma, highlighting its rarity.

Purpose: To assess and analyze the rate of knowledge, attitude, and practice patterns about eye donation among medical and healthcare professionals in a tertiary care hospital in eastern India.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional, descriptive study conducted on medical students, resident doctors, and nursing and paramedical staff at a tertiary institute in the year 2020. A pretested, structured questionnaire consisting of 28 questions in the three subsections based on knowledge and awareness, attitudes and beliefs, and practice patterns mainly willingness to donate eyes by pledging, was noted.

Pseudoexfoliation (PEX) is a multifactorial age-related disease characterized by the deposition of extracellular fibrillar aggregates in the anterior ocular tissues. This study aims to identify the genetic and epigenetic contribution of clusterin (CLU) in PEX pathology. CLU is a molecular chaperone upregulated in PEX and genetically associated with the disease.

Nephrotic syndrome (NS) is a common glomerular disease characterised by massive proteinuria, hypoalbuminaemia, oedema and hyperlipidaemia. Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) is a rare complication in children with NS. Here, we report a case of relapsing NS on steroid therapy, in a male in early childhood who presented with symptoms of headache, vomiting and double vision.

Aims: The study aims to investigate the presence of TORCH infections in a child with bilateral cataracts and deafness and report the ToRCH-serology screening profile (Toxoplasma gondii (TOX), rubella (RV), cytomegalovirus (CMV), and herpes simplex virus (HSV-I/II)) in pediatric cataract and deafness.

Methods: Cases that had a clear clinical history of congenital cataracts and congenital deafness were included in the study. The study population consisted of 18 bilateral cataracts and 12 bilateral deafness child who was admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for cataract surgery and cochlear implantation, respectively.

The steady and ongoing change in climatic patterns across the globe is triggering a cascade of climate-adaptive phenomena, both genetic and behavioral in parasites, and influencing the host-pathogen-transmission triangle. Parasite and vector traits are now heavily influenced due to increasing temperature that almost dissolved geospatial boundaries and impacted the basic reproductive number of parasites. As consequence, continents unknown to some parasites are experiencing altered distribution and abundance of new and emerging parasites that are developing into a newer epidemiological model.

Introduction: Giardiasis is one of the greatest public parasitic infections causing diarrheal and also known to be associated with high morbidity and mortality, among the children's particularly in developing countries with less cleanliness practices. Thus, studying genomic variety of aids to improve our perspective related to the variability in the genome of the parasite.

Materials And Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 1006 stool samples were collected from the rural ( = 500) and urban settings ( = 506) from the children (<15 years) with and without symptoms and were screened for the presence of by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) targeting triosephosphate isomerase gene.

Objective: Internet of Things (IoT) integrates several technologies where devices learn from the experience of each other thereby reducing human-intervened likely errors. Modern technologies like IoT and machine learning enable the conventional to patient-specific approach transition in healthcare. In conventional approach, the biggest challenge faced by healthcare professionals is to predict a disease by observing the symptoms, monitoring the remote area patient, and also attending to the patient all the time after being hospitalised.
