Extragonadal choriocarcinoma in men is an extremely rare and highly aggressive malignancy. Inconclusive biopsies due to a high necrotic component often delay diagnosis. Here is such a case, in which suggestive imaging findings on [F]FDG PET/CT, a raised level of serum β-human chorionic gonadotropin, and gynecomastia clinched the diagnosis.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on detecting multijet signatures from proton-proton collisions at a high energy of 13 TeV, analyzing a dataset totaling 128 fb^{-1}.
  • A special data scouting method is utilized to pick out events with low combined momentum in jets.
  • This research is pioneering in its investigation of electroweak particle production in R-parity violating supersymmetric models, particularly examining hadronically decaying mass-degenerate higgsinos, and it broadens the limits on the existence of R-parity violating top squarks and gluinos.

Objective: Transthoracic CT-guided lung biopsy is associated with risk of pneumothorax, requiring chest tube placement at times. From available literature, we tried to compare the incidence rate of pneumothorax in cases undergoing CT-guided lung biopsy with versus without use of gelfoam slurry for tract occlusion.

Methods: Databases like SCOPUS, PubMed, Google Scholar, and EMBASE were searched for original studies analysing the efficacy of gelfoam for needle tract embolization following CT-guided lung biopsy till September 2023.

The first search for soft unclustered energy patterns (SUEPs) is performed using an integrated luminosity of 138  fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13  TeV, collected in 2016-2018 by the CMS detector at the LHC. Such SUEPs are predicted by hidden valley models with a new, confining force with a large 't Hooft coupling. In events with boosted topologies, selected by high-threshold hadronic triggers, the multiplicity and sphericity of clustered tracks are used to reject the background from standard model quantum chromodynamics.

  • 68Ga-Trivehexin is a new radiotracer that specifically targets the integrin αvβ6 found in cancer cells.
  • It shows great potential to outperform the current standard 18F-FDG PET/CT in detecting head and neck cancers due to its enhanced specificity.
  • A case study on papillary thyroid carcinoma illustrated that 68Ga-Trivehexin PET/CT provided more accurate staging than the traditional 18F-FDG PET/CT.

The uptake of Tc-99m-uptake of Tc-99m-methylene diphosphonate (MDP) on bone scintigraphy can be seen at sites other than bone in a varying number of benign and malignant conditions. Extraosseous metastatic calcifications can occur in ovarian papillary serous adenocarcinoma (PSAC). These extraosseous calcifications show Tc-99m-MDP uptake.

  • - The peritoneal cancer index helps evaluate the extent of peritoneal disease before surgery.
  • - Current imaging methods like 18 F-FDG PET/CT are better than CT but still underestimate the disease because of high background activity in the body.
  • - A new imaging technique using 68 Ga-trivehexin targets cancer integrins, showing less background activity and potentially providing a more accurate assessment of advanced epithelial ovarian cancer.

  • Metastases to the thyroid gland from other cancers are very uncommon, with the most frequent sources being kidney, colorectal, lung, and breast cancers.
  • Rarely, laryngeal cancer can also spread to the thyroid gland, but this is not typical.
  • Thyroid metastases usually indicate a poor prognosis and need to be distinguished from tumors that start in the thyroid itself; the text describes a case identified through advanced imaging techniques.

Energy correlators that describe energy-weighted distances between two or three particles in a hadronic jet are measured using an event sample of sqrt[s]=13  TeV proton-proton collisions collected by the CMS experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.3  fb^{-1}. The measured distributions are consistent with the trends in the simulation that reveal two key features of the strong interaction: confinement and asymptotic freedom.

Oncocytic adenomas are rare benign tumors that typically originate in organs such as the kidneys, thyroid, parathyroid, salivary glands, or pituitary gland. Oncocytic adenoma of the adrenal gland is extremely rare. It often shows heterogeneous, nonspecific features on anatomic imaging, as well as high F-FDG avidity despite its benign nature.

Background: Bone is one of the common sites of metastasis from prostate carcinoma. Bone scintigraphy (BS) is one of the most sensitive imaging modalities currently used for bone metastatic work-up. Skeletal metastasis in prostate carcinoma commonly involves pelvic bones but rarely involves extrapelvic-extraspinal sites.

The production of ϒ(2S) and ϒ(3S) mesons in lead-lead (Pb-Pb) and proton-proton (pp) collisions is studied in their dimuon decay channel using the CMS detector at the LHC. The ϒ(3S) meson is observed for the first time in Pb-Pb collisions, with a significance above 5 standard deviations. The ratios of yields measured in Pb-Pb and pp collisions are reported for both the ϒ(2S) and ϒ(3S) mesons, as functions of transverse momentum and Pb-Pb collision centrality.

Introduction Cancer exerts a substantial influence on the body's metabolism through varied mechanisms, instigating a metabolic reprogramming that maintains the unchecked growth and survival of cancer cells, consequently perturbing diverse metabolic parameters. The introduction of positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT), delivering detailed insights into both metabolic and morphological aspects, has brought about a revolutionary shift in modern cancer detection. Exploring the potential connection between PET-CT metabolic features and the metabolic parameters of liver enzymes in an individual can unveil novel avenues for cancer diagnosis and prognosis.
