Both pain and mental health conditions are common among young people. They often co-occur, but we wanted to investigate further whether it is pain (abdominal pain, headache, musculoskeletal pain, menstrual pain) that precedes mental health conditions (depression, anxiety, stress, phobia) or whether it is the other way around, mental health conditions that precede pain. Using electronic health records-the Skåne Healthcare Register-we identified and followed young people aged 7 to 18 over a 13-year period and tracked all their registered diagnoses.

Background And Aims: Liver regeneration is essential for the preservation of homeostasis and survival. Bile acids (BAs)-mediated signaling is necessary for liver regeneration, but BAs levels need to be carefully controlled to avoid hepatotoxicity. We studied the early response of the BAs-fibroblast growth factor 19 (FGF19) axis in healthy individuals undergoing hepatectomy for living donor liver transplant.

Background: The effect of radiologic splenic vessels involvement (RSVI) on the survival of patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAC) located in the body and tail of the pancreas is controversial, and its influence on postoperative morbidity after distal pancreatectomy (DP) is unknown. This study aimed to determine the influence of RSVI on postoperative complications, overall survival (OS), and disease-free survival (DFS) in patients undergoing DP for PAC.

Methods: A multicenter retrospective study of DP was conducted at 7 hepatopancreatobiliary units between January 2008 and December 2018.

Background: HER2DX, a multianalyte genomic test, has been clinically validated to predict breast cancer recurrence risk (relapse risk score), the probability of achieving pathological complete response post-neoadjuvant therapy (pCR likelihood score), and individual ERBB2 messenger RNA (mRNA) expression levels in patients with early-stage human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer. This study delves into the comprehensive analysis of HER2DX's analytical performance.

Materials And Methods: Precision and reproducibility of HER2DX risk, pCR, and ERBB2 mRNA scores were assessed within and between laboratories using formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tumor tissues and purified RNA.

Cementless primary stems in revision hip arthroplasties may be conservative options to preserve bone stock and provide adequate reconstruction of the hip biomechanics. However, there is still little evidence about indications, limitations, and outcomes. This narrative review showed that conventional standard stems were adopted in different revision settings, up to Paprosky IIIA grade bone defects.

Little is known about dynamic changes of femoral anatomy after total hip arthroplasty (THA), in particular about sagittal femoral bowing (SFB). A 3D CT study was designed to evaluate the chronological changes of SFB after cementless femoral stem implantation for primary THA. Ten patients who underwent unilateral primary THA with a cementless femoral stem, with 2 consecutive CT scans (extending from the fourth lumbar vertebra to the tibial plateaus), performed before THA and at least 3 years after THA, were enrolled.

The liver is the only solid organ capable of regenerating itself to regain 100% of its mass and function after liver injury and/or partial hepatectomy (PH). This exceptional property represents a therapeutic opportunity for severe liver disease patients. However, liver regeneration (LR) might fail due to poorly understood causes.

Background: Despite a potentially curative treatment, the prognosis after upfront surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy for patients with resectable pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is poor. Modified FOLFIRINOX (mFOLFIRINOX) is a cornerstone in the systemic treatment of PDAC, including the neoadjuvant setting. Pharmacokinetic-guided (PKG) dosing has demonstrated beneficial effects in other tumors, but scarce data is available in pancreatic cancer.

Background: The World Federation of Obesity warns that the main health problem of the next decade will be childhood obesity. It is known that factors such as gestational obesity produce profound effects on fetal programming and are strong predictors of overweight and obesity in children. Therefore, establishing healthy eating behaviors during pregnancy is the key to the primary prevention of the intergenerational transmission of obesity.
