Uterine cervix carcinoids are distinct neuroendocrine cervical tumors, representing a comparatively small percentage of them. These well-differentiated neoplasms are far less prevalent than small- and large-cell carcinomas, characterized by a more favorable biological course. We report a case of a 43-year-old woman with a nonmetastatic cervical carcinoid, managed with radical hysterectomy.

ADAM 12 (meltrin alpha) belongs to a large family of molecules, consisting of members with both disintegrin and metalloproteinase properties. ADAMs have been implicated in several cell physiological processes including cell adhesion, cell fusion, proteolysis and signalling. ADAM 12 is widely expressed, including skeletal muscle, testis, bone, intestine, heart and kidney.

We present the case of a female patient admitted to our University Hospital with acute abdominal pain mimicking an intraperitoneal septic condition caused possibly by acute appendicitis. CT and ultrasound scan showed a mass situated in the right iliac fossa. The patient was submitted to laparotomy and right hemicolectomy.
