Background And Aims: Chemotherapy with alternating cycles of vincristine-doxorubicin-cyclophosphamide and ifosfamide-etoposide, along with primary tumor treatment with surgery or radiotherapy or both, constitute the usual treatment of Ewing sarcoma. The AEWS0031 study demonstrated survival benefits after interval-compressed chemotherapy without significant toxicity. The aim of this study was to assess the tolerability of dose-intensified chemotherapy in developing countries like India.

Bow Hunter's syndrome (BHS) is a very rare condition in which there is rotational vertebral artery (VA) insufficiency. The association of BHS with rotational atlantoaxial instability is extremely rare. We are reporting a case of pediatric BHS who presented with features of VA insufficiency on neck rotation.

Autophagy is a cellular degradation process that mediates cell survival. Studies using mouse models have demonstrated that inhibiting autophagy affects the production of cytokines triggered by RSV.

DNA variations are alterations found in DNA sequence, occurring in both nuclear DNA and mitochondrial DNA. Variations might differ in individual following population, respectively. The aim of this study was to find variations in target sequence of mtDNA (16000-16200) to be used as marker in Malay and Chinese population.

It is observed most frequently in patients with high-grade hematological malignancies undergoing treatment. Tumor lysis syndrome can occur spontaneously and it can present as the first symptom of an underlying malignancy.

The synthesized compounds were screened for their antioxidant properties using the DPPH radical scavenging method. Compounds 4i and 10h showed potent radical scavenging activities at 20 [Formula: see text] compared to BHA and ascorbic acid.

Some of the conditions such as moyamoya disease, severe ischemic-anoxic insults, early cortical ischemia, and infarcts are of "arterial origin." We describe two conditions in which "venous congestion" plays a major role in T2 hypointensity - cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) and dural arteriovenous fistula (dAVF).

All the synthesized compounds were screened for their antioxidant activities using FRAP and DPPH methods. Compounds with chloro substituents showed relatively good antioxidant properties.

Ethane is a breath biomarker of lipid peroxidation initiated by reactive oxygen species. A noninvasive means of quickly quantifying oxidative stress status has the potential for broad clinical application.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTwo iterative methods of inverting lidar backscatter signals to determine altitude profiles of aerosol extinction and altitude-resolved aerosol size distribution (ASD) are presented. The first method is for inverting two-wavelength lidar signals in which the shape of the ASD is assumed to be of power-law type, and the second method is for inverting multiwavelength lidar signals without assuming any a priori analytical form of ASD. An arbitrary value of the aerosol extinction-to-backscatter ratio (S(1)) is assumed initially to invert the lidar signals, and the ASD determined by use of the spectral dependence of the retrieved aerosol extinction coefficients is used to improve the value of S(1) iteratively.

With a specially designed wave-vector-mismatch distribution along the propagation axis, cascading was optimized for low fundamental depletion. High-contrast, ultrafast all-optical switching with switching powers of tens of watts was observed.

Multiple-channel wavelength conversion is demonstrated within the 1.5-mum band and between the 1.
