A patient with extensive fibrocavitary pulmonary tuberculosis and extensively drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis underwent bilateral video-assisted thoracic surgery thoracoplasty. An examination 4 years post-surgery revealed that the patient was in a satisfactory condition and able-bodied. We performed surgery according to our proposed video-assisted thoracic surgery thoracoplasty technique.

Background: Acoustic or hydrodynamic shearing, sonication and enzymatic digestion are used to fragment DNA. However, these methods have several disadvantages, such as DNA damage, difficulties in fragmentation control, irreproducibility and under-representation of some DNA segments. The DNA fragmentation tool would be a gentle enzymatic method, offering cleavage frequency high enough to eliminate DNA fragments distribution bias and allow for easy control of partial digests.

Obtaining thermostable enzymes (thermozymes) is an important aspect of biotechnology. As thermophiles have adapted their genomes to high temperatures, their cloned genes' expression in mesophiles is problematic. This is mainly due to their high GC content, which leads to the formation of unfavorable secondary mRNA structures and codon usage in Escherichia coli (E.

The paper analyzes morphological changes and results of surgical treatment in 515 patients with destructive pulmonary tuberculosis. Two hundred and seventy-four patients underwent mediastinal lymphadenectomy and in 241 patients lung resections or pneumonectomies were not followed by lymphadenectomy or solitary caseous molten lymph nodes were removed during an operation. In disseminated destructive pulmonary tuberculosis, active tuberculosis of intrathoracic lymph nodes (ILN) was found in 97%.

The immediate results of partial resections were analyzed in 120 patients with drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis, among whom 70 patients had multidrug resistance. A complete clinical effect (abacillation and no decay cavities) was achieved in 117 (97.5%) patients, including in 67 (95.

The results of pleural biopsy were analyzed in 293 patients with exudative pleurisy, among whom a group of free pleurisy included 88 cases, encapsulated pleurisy and pleural obliteration were observed in 156 and 11 patients, respectively. Thoracoscopy with visual pinching pleural biopsy was performed in 59 patients puncture pleural biopsy was made in 234 patients. There is evidence for that thoracoscopic pleural biopsy had a significant advantage in pleurisy in the phase of organization.
