The removal efficiency (RE) of organic contaminants in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) is a major determinant of the environmental impact of chemicals which are discharged to wastewater. In a recent study, non-target screening analysis was applied to quantify the percentage removal efficiency (RE%) of more than 300 polar contaminants, by analyzing influent and effluent samples from a Swedish WWTP with direct injection UHPLC-Orbitrap-MS/MS. Based on subsets extracted from these data, we developed quantitative structure-property relationships (QSPRs) for the prediction of WWTP breakthrough (BT) to the effluent water.

New inorganic nanostructured matrices for fiber-reinforced composites with enhanced high-temperature stability were developed from alkali aluminosilicate polymers doped with different ultra-high-temperature ceramic (UHTC) particles. The alkali aluminosilicate matrices were synthesized at room temperature with a high SiO:AlO ratio and then further functionalized by doping with 4-5 wt % of micrometric SiC, ZrB, ZrC, and HfC powders and finally thermally stabilized as glass-ceramics at 750 °C. The different UHTC-doped matrices were characterized according to their dimensional and microstructural changes after thermal cycling in air flux at 1000 °C.

The hepatocyte growth factor (HGF)/MET signaling pathway has been proposed to be involved in the resistance to radiotherapy of glioblastoma via proinvasive and DNA damage response pathways.Here we assessed the role of the MET pathway in the response to radiotherapy in vitro and in vivo in syngeneic mouse glioma models. We find that the murine glioma cell lines GL-261, SMA-497, SMA-540 and SMA-560 express HGF and its receptor MET and respond to exogenous HGF with MET phosphorylation.
