Chronic and asymptomatic diseases influence the control of hypertension treatment in primary care.

Objective: To identify the association between blood pressure control and the following variables: a) bio-social and lifestyle characteristics of hypertensive patients; and b) factors related to the antihypertensive treatment.

Methods: This is an exploratory study with 290 people with hypertension from primary care. We used a specific instrument, self-administered, with 21 questions on factors that can hinder treatment, divided into four dimensions: medication, socioeconomic, institutional and personal beliefs.

[Translation and adaptation of the In-Hospital Utstein style into the Portuguese language].

Cardiopulmonary arrest (CPA) is a potentially lethal event in which the quality of the service depends on agility, knowledge and the skills of all of the involved team. The development of the guide identifying the significant points during the procedure of an in-hospital CPA appeared in 1997, with the creation of the In-Hospital Utstein. The purpose of this study was the translation and adaptation of the procedures into the Portuguese language.

[Immunization control and student registration at the city of São Paulo's Municipal Schools of Infantile Education].

The presentation of the vaccination passbook is mandatory for student registration at the city of São Paulo's Municipal Schools of Infantile Education, as a form of stimulating parents to keep their children's immunizations calendar updated. However, attendants do not verify periodically if the vaccinations are correct. In order to overcome this problem, a project with the aim of facilitating the immunization control through a software that controls immunizations was tested at a Municipal School of Infantile Education.

[Beliefs that influence adolescents in organ donations].

This study was aimed at investigating knowledge, behavior and normative beliefs of students concerning transplant and organs donations, based on the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA), in two public schools of the city of São Paulo. The sample was comprised of 94 students who answered a questionnaire, whose answers were submitted to statistical analysis. [Beliefs of undergraduate nursing students on aging].

The objective of this study was to identify the conceptions of undergraduate Nursing students on aging. A qualitative research was carried at the Cidade de São Paulo University (Unicid); 49 students were requested to write a text whose theme was "what does being old mean?". The texts were submitted to a content analysis, in which three thematic units were identified: Representations of the old being; How respondents perceive old the elder in society and within the family; and the Need to change public opinion regarding aging.

[Psychiatry nursing and mental health team members].

This paper is based on a study on the functions of the nurse, as a member of the multiprofessional team, in one Psychiatric Hospital. The populations interviewed was composed of 16 nurses, 17 phisicians, 7 social workers, 3 occupational therapists and 3 psychologists. The results showed that not even the nurses had a clear idea of their functions.
