Emergencies in adolescents: management guidelines for four presentations.

The cases presented in this article are representative of adolescent emergencies that may be encountered by the office practitioner. Many more examples in the area of adolescent gynecology could have been presented, including ectopic pregnancy and pelvic inflammatory disease. Substance abuse issues will be addressed in the second part of this topic, which will be published in the December 2005 issue of Pediatric Annals.
