Following the presentation of a confirmed case of paralytic polio Sabin-derived virus (VSD) in a child of 15 months we analyzed the coverage of poliomyelitis vaccination in children living in the City of Buenos Aires, in the 2006/2008 triennium. There was an improvement over the period analyzed, but values above 95% were reached only for the first dose. The proportion of inactivated vaccine (IPV) increased at the expense of live oral vaccine (OPV); in 2008, the first dose IPV coverage was 37.
