Preterm birth (PTB), often preceded by preterm labor, is a major cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality worldwide. Most PTB cases involve intra-amniotic inflammation without detectable microorganisms, termed in utero sterile inflammation, for which there is no established treatment. In this study, we propose homeostatic macrophages to prevent PTB and adverse neonatal outcomes caused by in utero sterile inflammation.

Methods: The authors conducted a qualitative post-hoc analysis of the aTBC implementation using data from several sources.
It is crucial to study the human pancreas to understand the pathophysiological mechanisms associated with type 1 (T1D) and 2 diabetes (T2D) as well as the pancreas endocrine and exocrine physiology and interplay. Much has been learned from the study of isolated pancreatic islets, but this prevents examining their function and interactions in the context of the whole tissue. Pancreas slices provide a unique opportunity to explore the physiology of normal, inflamed, and structurally damaged islets within their native environment, in turn allowing the study of interactions between endocrine and exocrine compartments to better investigate the complex dynamics of pancreatic tissue.

Using a difference-in-differences research design, we measure visit intensity, compliance with preventive care recommendations, and health outcomes among patients in the aTBC model compared with patients in a traditional team-based delivery model. We find increases in receipt of some recommended preventive care and in visit intensity, but no change in health outcomes.

Clinical workflows that prioritize repetitive patient intake screening to meet performance metrics may have unintended consequences. This retrospective analysis of electronic health record data from 24 Federally Qualified Health Centers assessed effectiveness and accuracy of the 2-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-2) for depression screening and Generalized Anxiety Disorder 2 (GAD-2) for anxiety screening from 2019 to 2021. Scores of over 91% of PHQ-2 and GAD-2 tests indicated low likelihood of depression or anxiety, which diverged markedly from published literature on screening outcomes.
