This article describes a dataset of acceleration signals acquired from a low-cost Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) during seismic events that occurred in Central Italy. The WSN consists of 5 low-cost sensor nodes, each embedding an ADXL355 tri-axial MEMS accelerometer with a fixed sampling frequency of 250 Hz. The data was acquired from February 2023 to the end of June 2023.

We report a case of PE in a male teenager obese boy in the setting of a thrombophilic genetic disorder, infective condition, and immobility. Our experience underlines as PE in childhood is a multifactorial disease in which clinical risk factors and inherited thrombophilia contribute to the development.

The present study aimed to investigate the effects of antenatal pandemic-related emotional stress and perceived social support on the symptoms of depression and anxiety of mothers who were pregnant during the initial COVID-19 outbreak in northern Italy. A sample of 281 mothers was enrolled at eight maternity units in the first hotspot region of the COVID-19 outbreak in northern Italy.

Pandemic-related stress experienced by mothers during pregnancy may act as an early risk factor for infants' regulatory capacity development by altering maternal psychosocial well-being (e.g.

Methods: A computerized search was conducted using PubMed. Overall, three articles describing the history of seven infants were finally considered.
This report describes a case of acute pancreatitis in a 2-year-old boy following rotavirus gastroenteritis. Its characteristics are analyzed and discussed in the light of another 4 cases of pancreatitis associated with rotavirus infection found through a systematic review of the international literature. None of the five children underwent surgery or was referred to an intensive care unit and all 5 children recovered with normalization of pancreatic enzymes within 5-10 days.

Background: Following bioprosthetic failure, replacement is usually done with mechanical valves to avoid repeated reoperations.
Methods: From 1986 to 1996 we operated on 130 patients with bioprosthetic failure, implanting a new bioprosthesis; this group included patients with contraindication to anticoagulation, tricuspid replacement, and specific patient requests. Mean age was 63+/-8 years.
Background: Left ventricular dysfunction is frequently observed in patients after hypothermic cardioplegic arrest, and often inotropic intervention is necessary for patients to be successfully weaned from cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). A myocardial beta-adrenergic receptor (beta AR) desensitization has been noted to occur after hypothermic CPB in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting. This randomized study was undertaken to determine the effect of cardioplegic solution temperature on cardiac beta ARs.

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the effect of normothermic and hypothermic CPB on both complement and neutrophil activation.
Methods: Two groups of patients (n = 20 each) scheduled for elective coronary artery bypass grafting, underwent CPB with intermittent warm or cold blood cardioplegia.
To evaluate the effect of coenzyme Q10 in reducing postoperative cardiac complications after ischemia and reperfusion, we randomly divided 40 patients undergoing elective coronary artery bypass into two groups: patients in group 1 received coenzyme Q10 (150 mg/day) for 7 days before operation, and those in group 2 were the control group. Concentrations of thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (malondialdehyde), conjugated dienes, and cardiac isoenzymes of creatine kinase were measured in samples from both arterial and coronary sinus sites. Serial sampling was performed 5 minutes after heparin administration, at 10 and 30 minutes during cardiopulmonary bypass, 15 and 30 minutes after aortic cross-clamp removal, and 5 minutes after protamine administration.

Intraoperative thermographic evaluation of regional myocardial cooling induced by cardioplegia, in patients with coronary artery disease, was conducted in 22 cases. Pictures were obtained at the beginning of the cardiopulmonary by-pass, after general cooling and during cardioplegic infusion. Uneven myocardial cooling was observed related to the degree of coronary artery stenosis.

We studied 76 patients with congenital heart disease, whose ages ranged from 2 to 39 years. The following investigations were carried out pre-operatively and post-operatively in all patients: visual acuity, cycloplegic refraction, orthoptic examination, examination of the fundus. Where collaboration was sufficient the following were also studied: kinetic and static perimetry, adaptation perimetry, colour vision, electroretinography.

A comparison has been made between two groups of 51 patients each, one group perfused with on Oxybel oxygenator (OXY) and the other with the Harvey H 1000 oxygenator (H-H). Among these patients a wide range of acquired and congenital cardiac lesions have been encountered.

Clinically MLCA disease can only be suspected, in the AA's experience, if a patient presents with markedly positive exercise stress test and/or unstable angina. Coronary arteriography and left ventriculography confirmed the high incidence of associated 2-3 vessel coronary artery disease and of severe left ventricular segmental wall motion abnormalities.
