Antibiotic resistance has been and remains a major problem in our society. The main solution to this problem is to search and study the mechanisms of antibiotic action. Many groups of secondary metabolites, including antimicrobial ones, are produced by the phylum.

This review highlights operational principles, features, and modern aspects of the development of third-generation sequencing technology of biopolymers focusing on the nucleic acids analysis, namely the nanopore sequencing system. Basics of the method and technical solutions used for its realization are considered, from the first works showing the possibility of creation of these systems to the easy-to-handle procedure developed by Oxford Nanopore Technologies company. Moreover, this review focuses on applications, which were developed and realized using equipment developed by the Oxford Nanopore Technologies, including assembly of whole genomes, methagenomics, direct analysis of the presence of modified bases.

BLAST+-based average nucleotide identity (ANIb) and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values indicate that ET2 may be a novel species.

A systematic review of literature on the issue of involvement in the sense of smell, as well as the interaction between the trigeminal and olfactory nerves, was carried out. The article discusses the features of the chemical perception systems, as well as the treatment of olfactory disorders using transcranial electrical stimulation of the trigeminal nerve.

It serves the ability to obtain long reads of thousands of nucleotides without assembly and amplification during sequencing compared to next-generation sequencing. Nanopore sequencing can help for determination of genetic changes leading to antibiotics resistance.

The 3D-structure of the rDNA promoter plays an important, yet not fully understood role in regulating rRNA synthesis. We hypothesized that DNA intercalators/groove binders could affect this structure and disrupt rRNA transcription.

Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: Patients of the study group (SG) n= 36 additionally received cryopreserved blood plasma therapy Octaplas (Octapharma, Switzerland). Patients of the control group (CG) n=36 received only chemotherapy with Valganciclovir 450 mg 2/day per os for 1-3 months.
Introduction: The prevalence of hearing loss and its consequences is increasing as the elderly population grows. As the guidelines for cochlear implantation (CI) expand, the number of elderly CI recipients is also increasing. We report complication rates, survival duration, and audiological outcomes for CI recipients aged 80 years and over and discuss the cost utility of CI in this age group.

We hypothesize that blood neutrophils are the main VEGF source and can stimulate FLT-1 receptor expression, which is the perquisite for efficient neoangiogenesis.
Materials And Methods: Kinetic studies of the healing dynamics (3, 7, 14, 21 days) of burn wounds on the skin were conducted in white adult male rats.
Objective: To determine if cochlear implantation without removal of inner ear schwannomas (IES) is an effective treatment option for Neurofibromatosis 2 (NF2) patients. To determine how the presence of an intracochlear schwannoma might impact cochlear implant (CI) outcomes and programming parameters.

Internet users worldwide often experience problems related to their Internet use, and although culture has an important influence over how people communicate, what they value, and therefore how they use the Internet, little cross-cultural research on the subject of problematic Internet use has been carried out. The Internet Addiction Test (IAT), the most common measurement tool for this purpose, has been used in various countries. In this study we compared and analyzed the cross-cultural results found in the most recent research on the IAT factor analysis.

Two series of pure poly(vinyl alcohol) and graphene oxide-loaded films with fixed amounts of water were used for modification with glycerol, since water can also serve as a plasticizer for poly(vinyl alcohol). The morphology and physical properties of the plasticized and non-plasticized composites were studied; tensile tests were performed to investigate and compare their mechanical properties.

The study included 246 men aged 48 to 65 years (mean age 58 years (53,0; 63,0)) with stable form of ischemic heart disease - angina FC II-III CHF I-III FC (NYHA), observed during 2012-2015. To assess the level of oxidative stress in all patients by ELISA was determined by lipid peroxide, total antioxidant status (CCA) and levels of non-enzymatic antioxidant bilirubin (BR).

Methods We reviewed quantitative and qualitative studies on smartphone addiction and analyzed their methods and conclusions to make a determination on the suitability of the diagnosis "addiction" to excessive and problematic smartphone use. Results Although the majority of research in the field declares that smartphones are addictive or takes the existence of smartphone addiction as granted, we did not find sufficient support from the addiction perspective to confirm the existence of smartphone addiction at this time.

The methods used for the rehabilitation of the affected patients are designed in the first place to enable the patients to acquire the skills necessary for maintaining the static balance. The modern equipment allows to carry out coordination training in the static position and also during walking.

The preoperative characteristic of 398 patients included the description of the predominant clinical syndrome (the neoplastic and compressive variants) and specification of the morphological type of the disease to promote the decrease of operative activity with respect to colloidal proliferative goiter. Direct laryngoscopy was employed in addition to the traditional diagnostic techniques during both the surgical operation and the follow-up observation.

Methods: Articles indexed in PubMed and PsycINFO between 2006 and 2010 related to the pathological use of Internet, cell phones, and video games were retrieved. Search results were reviewed to eliminate articles that were not relevant or were duplicates.
Type II DNA topoisomerases catalyse DNA double-strand cleavage, passage and re-ligation to effect topological changes. There is considerable interest in elucidating topoisomerase II roles, particularly as these proteins are targets for anti-cancer drugs. Here we uncover a role for topoisomerase IIα in RNA polymerase I-directed ribosomal RNA gene transcription, which drives cell growth and proliferation and is upregulated in cancer cells.

Increased Pol-I transcription and the concurrent increase in ribosome biogenesis has been linked to the high rates of proliferation in cancers. The ellipticine family contains a number of potent anticancer therapeutic agents, some having progressed to stage I and II clinical trials; however, the mechanism by which many of the compounds work remains unclear.
