Pheochromocytoma patients with high levels of circulating catecholamines are at risk of cardiovascular complications related to hypertensive emergencies and subsequent organ damage. A patient with concomitant aortic stenosis and pheochromocytoma has compounded risk of cardiovascular complications, especially during surgery, which complicates medical decision-making. The ProQ/FinO family of RNA binding proteins mediate sRNA-directed gene regulation throughout gram-negative bacteria. Here, we investigate the structural basis for RNA recognition by ProQ/FinO proteins, through the crystal structure of the ProQ/FinO domain of the Legionella pneumophila DNA uptake regulator, RocC, bound to the transcriptional terminator of its primary partner, the sRNA RocR. The structure reveals specific recognition of the 3' nucleotide of the terminator by a conserved pocket involving a β-turn-α-helix motif, while the hairpin portion of the terminator is recognized by a conserved α-helical N-cap motif.

Introduction: Currently available treatments for chronic lower back pain (CLBP) do not adequately address both nociceptive and neuropathic components of pain. We evaluated efficacy and safety of fixed-dose combination (FDC) of low-dose pregabalin prolonged release 75 mg-etoricoxib 60 mg to address both pain components.

Introduction: Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura is a rare and fatal thrombotic microangiopathy characterised by a pentad of microangiopathic haemolytic anaemia, thrombocytopenia, renal abnormalities, neurological abnormalities, and fever. Due to ineffective erythropoiesis, vitamin-B12 deficiency may rarely present as haemolytic anaemia.

Case Report: We report a case of a 42-year-old vegetarian female presenting as vitamin B12 deficiency anaemia found to have concomitant TTP, responding to plasmapheresis, corticosteroids, and rituximab therapy.

Dexamethasone may reduce mortality in COVID-19 patients. Whether dexamethasone or endogenous glucocorticoids, such as cortisol, biochemically interact with SARS-CoV-2 spike 1 protein (S1), or its cellular receptor ACE2, is unknown.
