The Danjiangkou Reservoir is the largest artificial freshwater lake in Asia. This study investigated the spatiotemporal distribution of pesticides and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the Danjiangkou Reservoir to assess the ecological and human health risks associated with these pollutants. Type-3 effectors (T3E) of phytopathogenic Gram-negative bacteria fulfill a virulent role, causing disease, or an avirulent role, inducing immunity, following their translocation into plant cells. This study aimed to validate the hypothesis that bacterial T3E translocation requires lipidic compounds in plant cell membranes. Based on genetic, molecular, and biochemical assays, we determined that phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PI4P) associated with plant cell membranes is essential for the translocation of T3E by bacterial pathogens.

Small-scale rock cutting tests serve as a simple approach to evaluate the performance of tunnel boring machines (TBMs), but the feasibility of this method requires further investigation. Herein, a small-scale rotary cutting machine is developed to conduct rock cutting tests, and the cutting performance is investigated. The results indicate that similar cutting performance can be achieved through both small-scale and full-scale tests.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy that targets B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) have great potentials in autoimmune diseases and could be novel therapeutics for relapsed/refractory neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). To evaluate the safety and efficacy of the CT103A, a self-developed BCMA-targeting CAR construct against BCMA, in patients with AQP4-IgG seropositive NMOSD, an ongoing, investigator-initiated, open-label, single-arm, phase 1 clinical trial is conducted at our center.
