Targeted therapy is preferable over other therapeutics due to its limitation of drawbacks and better pharmaceutical outcomes. VEGF and its receptors have been observed to be hyper-activated in many cancer types and are considered promising targets for assigning anticancer agents. The current study is directed towards synthesis of novel antiproliferative 2-oxoindolin-3-ylidenes incorporating urea function with VEGFR-2 properties.

B0AT1 (SLC6A19) is a major sodium-coupled neutral amino acid transporter that relies on angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) or collectrin for membrane trafficking. Despite its significant role in disorders associated with amino acid metabolism, there is a deficit of comprehensive structure-function understanding of B0AT1 in lipid environment. Herein, we have employed molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to explore the architectural characteristics of B0AT1 in two distinct environments: a simplified POPC bilayer and a complex lipid system replicating the native membrane composition.

Breastfeeding is vital for infant nutrition, especially for multiple babies (twins) born prematurely, yet breastfeeding rates among mothers of twins are lower compared with mothers of singleton babies. This review presents a synthesis of research findings on breastfeeding challenges experienced by mothers following twins' births. The electronic databases of CINAHL, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, EMBASE, and Web of Science were systematically searched in August 2023.

Neuromorphic and fully analog in-memory computations are promising for handling vast amounts of data with minimal energy consumption. We have synthesized and studied a series of homo-bimetallic silver purine MOFs (1D and 2D) having direct metal-metal bonding. The N7-derivatized purine ligands are designed to form bi-metallic complexes under ambient conditions, extending to a 1D or 2D metal-organic framework.

Objective: Post-prandial glucose response (PPGR) is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Meal carbohydrate content is an important predictor of PPGR, but dietary interventions to mitigate PPGR are not always successful. A personalized approach, considering behaviour and habitual pattern of glucose excursions assessed by continuous glucose monitor (CGM), may be more effective.

Purpose: Orocervical (OCF) or pharyngocutaneous fistula (PCF) are one of the disastrous complications of head and neck cancer surgery. Conventional standards of management are predominantly conservative. Though a majority of such patients respond to conservative management, it nevertheless causes significant delay in wound healing.

The increasing prevalence of dental pathogens and oral cancer calls for new therapeutic agents. Nanoparticle (NPs) based tumor therapy enables precise targeting and controlled drug release, improving anti-cancer treatment efficacy while reducing systemic toxicity. Zinc oxide NPs (ZnO NPs) are notable in nanomedicine for their exceptional physicochemical and biological properties.

Background Multimorbidity and polypharmacy are common in older adults and pose a considerable challenge to the health and social care system. They are complex and interrelated concepts in geriatric care that require early detection and patient-centered shared decision-making by multidisciplinary, team-led comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) across all health and social care settings. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the economic burden of multimorbidity and polypharmacy among geriatric patients.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus can cause thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) by alternate pathway activation. We present a case of a young female patient who presented with fever and dialysis-dependent acute kidney injury. On evaluation, she was diagnosed with COVID-19-induced complement-mediated thrombotic microangiopathy (CM-TMA).

Saprolegniasis is one of the most dangerous fungal diseases of fish, causing significant mortality in fish hatcheries and young ones. The present study aimed to isolate and characterize the causative fungus from fingerlings of Pangasianodon hypophthalmus cultured intensively in freshwater cages in Indian reservoirs and to determine minimum inhibitory concentrations of different antifungal compounds against the fungal hyphae and zoospores. The fungal isolates grown on potato dextrose agar showed an abundance of gemmae, elongated mycelia, non-septate hyphae, primary zoospores, mature zoosporangia with numerous zoospores, cysts with bundles of long hairs and were further identified as Saprolegnia parasitica following PCR amplification and sequencing of internal transcribed spacer region.

Design of hierarchical hollow nanoheterostructure materials through interfacial and defect engineering is an innovative approach for achieving optimal charge separation dynamics and photon harvesting efficiency. Herein, we have described a facile technique to fabricate hollow MOF-derived C, N-doped-CoO (C, N-CoO) dodecahedral particles enwrapped with MgInS nanosheets for enhanced N reduction performance. ZIF-67 was initially used as a sacrificial template to prepare hollow C, N-CoO using a carbonization route followed by low-temperature calcination treatment.

Parkinson's disease (PD) prevalence is projected to reach 12 million by 2040. Wearable sensors offer a promising approach for comfortable, continuous tremor monitoring to optimize treatment strategies. Here, we present a wristwatch-like triboelectric sensor (WW-TES) inspired by automatic watches for unobtrusive PD tremor assessment.

The Himalayas experiences several cloudburst events due to its varied physiographical, geomorphological, and geological conditions and high rainfall. Uttarakhand is one of the Indian states circumscribed by the Himalayan ranges and has experienced a rise in the number of cloudburst catastrophes in the last few decades. These events cause substantial loss of life and property; however, very few studies have characterized these unpredictable cloudburst-induced flash floods in different regions of Uttarakhand.

Vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A) is a growth factor and pluripotent cytokine that promotes angiogenesis in cancer cells, transitioning to an angiogenic phenotype. The binding of VEGF-A protein to VEGF receptors (VEGFR-1 and VEGFR-2) initiates a cascade of events that stimulates angiogenesis by facilitating the migration and enhancing the permeability of endothelial cells. The proximal promoter of the VEGF gene encompasses a 36-base pair region (from -85 to -50) that can form a stable G-quadruplex (G4) structure in specific conditions.

Decades of research on the infamous antinutritional steroidal glycoalkaloids (SGAs) in Solanaceae plants have provided deep insights into their metabolism and roles. However, engineering SGAs in heterologous hosts has remained a challenge. We discovered that a protein evolved from the machinery involved in building plant cell walls is the crucial link in the biosynthesis of SGAs.

The non-treponemal tests like VDRL and RPR hold an important place in the diagnosis of syphilis. In many countries, these tests are used for screening, with positive results being subsequently confirmed by treponemal or specific tests like TPHA or FTA-ABS. Recent observations of low-titer VDRL or RPR positivity (<1:8) or negative results in patients with clinically active syphilis are becoming a cause for concern especially in the backdrop of a resurgence of the disease.
