Introduction Adolescence is a pivotal time for individuals with celiac disease (CD), presenting a host of psychosocial challenges. Managing a strict gluten-free diet (GFD) while forming self-identity, striving for autonomy, and navigating social relationships significantly impacts adolescents with CD. The present pilot study investigates the impact of psychological factors on behavioral and dietary responses in adolescents with CD, utilizing repeated measures over time.

The Balkans are considered a major glacial refugium where flora and fauna survived glacial periods and repopulated the rest of Europe during interglacials. While it is also thought to have harboured Pleistocene human populations, evidence linking human activity, paleoenvironmental indicators and a secure temporal placement to glacial periods is scant. Informal caregivers' experiences of supporting patients with pancreatic cancer: A qualitative study in Greece.

Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to explore informal caregivers' experiences of supporting family members with pancreatic cancer.

Methods: A qualitative descriptive study was conducted with individual semi-structured telephone interviews and inductive thematic analysis. Data were collected from 10 informal caregivers in the only cancer hospital in Northern Greece.

First record of Macaca (Cercopithecidae, Primates) in the Middle Pleistocene of Greece.

In this article, we describe an almost complete macaque mandible from the Middle Pleistocene locality Marathousa 1 in the Megalopolis Basin of southern Greece. The mandible belonged to a male individual of advanced ontogenetic age and of estimated body mass ∼13 kg. Comparative metric analysis of its teeth permits its attribution to the Barbary macaque Macaca sylvanus, a species that was geographically widely distributed in Western Eurasia during the Plio-Pleistocene.

Honey consumption is attributed to potentially advantageous effects on human health due to its antioxidant capacity as well as anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activity, which are mainly related to phenolic compound content. Phenolic compounds are secondary metabolites of plants, and their content in honey is primarily affected by the botanical and geographical origin. In this study, a high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) method was applied to determine the phenolic profile of various honey matrices and investigate authenticity markers.

The aim of this review was to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions in promoting resilience among physicians. Previous reviews concerning resilience did not assess effectiveness in a systematic way using meta-analytic methods. The industrial currants finishing generates a considerable amount of side-stream (FSS) with great potential for biotechnological exploitation. The chemical composition of FSS generated from the premium quality Vostitsa currants was studied. Its use for wine making (at low temperatures, using both free and immobilized yeast) combined with baker's yeast production (with minor nutrient supplementation), is also proposed.

Can self-pampering act as a buffer against depression in women? A cross-sectional study.

Despite preliminary evidence that self-pampering can alleviate psychological burden that may lead to depression among women, no studies have so far examined the link between pampering and depression. The aim of this study was to explore the differential effect of pampering on depression depending on women's marital, parental, or caregiving status. A cross-sectional design was employed.

Is wellbeing at work related to professional recognition: a pilot intervention.

The aim of this pilot study was to design, implement and evaluate an intervention aiming at increasing professional recognition among health-care professionals working in primary care. Professional recognition was operationalized at three levels: self, co-workers and patients/recipients of care. Thirty-six (n = 36) residents and consultants working in primary health-care settings in Greece participated in the study.

Evaluation of anti-platelet activity of grape pomace extracts.

Platelets aggregation plays a crucial role in atherothrombosis. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to examine the anti-platelet activity of winery by-products extracts, to find the most potent one and to be further analyzed in order to be used for food fortification. For this purpose, grape pomace from four red varieties was extracted with four solvents of different polarity.

Psychological stress reduces the immunological benefits of breast milk.

Our study aimed to assess the impact of maternal psychological stress on the immunological components of breast milk. Eighty-nine women participated in the study. We assessed general stress, postpartum-specific stress, negative affectivity, salivary cortisol of mother, and secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA) levels of breast milk 4-6 weeks after delivery.

Non-clinical rounds in hospital settings: a scoping review.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to systematically describe the types of non-clinical rounds implemented in hospital settings.

Design/methodology/approach: This scoping review was conducted and reported in accordance with the PRISMA. The review followed the four stages of conducting scoping review as defined by Arskey and O'Malley (2005).
