Missed Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT) Diagnosis in a Patient with Acute Stent Thrombosis.

BACKGROUND Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) is a serious complication of heparin therapy, characterized by thrombocytopenia and high risk for venous and arterial thrombosis. CASE REPORT We report an unusual case of acute stent thrombosis secondary to delayed HIT. A 74-year-old man with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction had a coronary angiography which revealed 2-vessel disease.

Aortic root replacement and valvuloplasty in a woman with severe pectus excavatum.

We describe a case of a 43-year old woman with Marfan's syndrome, tricuspid valve regurgitation and severe pectus excavatum who required an aortic root replacement and valvuloplasty for an ascending aortic aneurism with aortic valve regurgitation and tricuspid valve regurgitation. There was a severe angulation of the sternum which was close to 1.5 cm to the column vertebrae.

Atrial Myxoma Mimicking Mitral Stenosis.

Myxoma is the most common primary cardiac tumor and is usually located in the left atrium. Clinical manifestation relies in large part on the size, location, and architecture of the tumor. There are many reports in the literature of cardiac myxomas causing syncope, embolism, even myocardial infarction.

Outcomes after ascending aorta and proximal aortic arch repair using deep hypothermic circulatory arrest with retrograde cerebral perfusion: analysis of 207 patients.

Objectives: Correction of ascending aorta and proximal aortic arch pathology with numerous surgical techniques having been proposed over the years remains a surgical challenge. This study was undertaken to identify risk factors influencing outcome after aortic arch operations, requiring deep hypothermic circulatory arrest (DHCA).

Methods: Between 1993 and 2010, 207 consecutive patients were operated for ascending aorta and proximal arch correction with the use of deep hypothermic circulatory arrest with retrograde cerebral perfusion.

Tortuous right coronary artery to coronary sinus fistula.

We are reporting the successful surgical treatment of a 23-year-old female with a giant right coronary artery to coronary sinus fistula. This woman had complaints of chest pain and dyspnea on exertion for few months. Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) showed a large tortuous right coronary artery and a dilated coronary sinus.

Surgical treatment of primary intracardiac myxoma: 19 years of experience.

Cardiac myxoma is the most common benign tumor of the heart. It presents with a variety of clinical signs and symptomatology making diagnosis frequently quite a challenge. We review our experience with 41 patients who underwent surgical intervention for cardiac myxoma between 1994 and 2011.
