Underwater adhesives hold significant relevance in daily life and applications. Despite great efforts, the development of high-performance underwater adhesives through a simple and effective method remains a difficult challenge. Obesity is a definitive factor of severity and mortality of acute pancreatitis (AP), and gut microbiota dysbiosis is involved in its pathogenesis. However, the effect of gut microbiota modulation by dietary components on high fat diet (HFD)-induced severe AP remains unclear. Here, we found that the inulin, a soluble dietary fiber, mitigated pancreatic injury and systematic inflammation in mice fed HFD, which was dependent on gut microbiota as this protective effect was attenuated in germ-free mice.

Inactivating mutations of Foxp3, the master regulator of regulatory T cell development and function, lead to immune dysregulation, polyendocrinopathy, enteropathy, X-linked (IPEX) syndrome in mice and humans. Uncontrolled bleeding and wound infections following severe trauma pose significant challenges for existing tissue adhesives, primarily due to their weak wet adhesion, slow adhesion formation, cytotoxicity concerns, and lack of antibacterial properties. Herein, an injectable hydrogel (denoted as ES gel) with rapid, robust adhesive sealing and inherent antibacterial activity based on ε-polylysine and a poly(ethylene glycol) derivative is developed. The engineered hydrogel exhibits rapid gelation behavior, high mechanical strength, strong adhesion to various tissues, and can sustain an ultrahigh burst pressure of 450 mmHg.
