Article Synopsis
  • Polygonati Rhizome (PR) is a widely distributed plant known for its diverse pharmacological effects, including anti-aging, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a significant tonic in traditional medicine for over 2,000 years.
  • The study aims to provide a comprehensive examination of PR's processing, extraction methods, and its anti-aging mechanisms, particularly its organ protective abilities.
  • The research identified 49 polysaccharides, 163 saponins, and 46 flavonoids in PR, revealing its potential to protect against age-related damage to various organs and support longevity.

Long-term care facilities (LTCFs) for older people play an important and unique role in multidrug-resistant organism transmission. Herein, we investigated the genetic characteristics of mobile colistin resistance gene ()-carrying strains isolated from wastewater of LTCFs in Shanghai. Antimicrobial susceptibility test was carried out by agar dilution methods.

Objective: Through analyzing the characteristics and influencing factors of adverse drug reactions/adverse events (ADR/ADE) in a hospital to promote rational drug use in the clinic.

Methods: A total of 1221 ADR/ADE reports collected from a hospital in 2022 were retrieved through the National Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Center. The effective reports were screened according to the Guiding Principles for Collection and Reporting of Individual Adverse Drug Reactions, and classified the standardized drugs.

Aim: 6S-5-methyltetrahydrofolate is the predominant form of dietary folate in circulation and is used as a crystalline form of calcium salt (MTHF-Ca). Reports revealed that MTHF-Ca was more safe than folic acid, a synthetic and highly stable version of folate. Folic acid has been reported to have anti-inflammatory effects.

Anticancer peptides and polymers represent an emerging field of tumor treatment and can physically interact with tumor cells to address the problem of multidrug resistance. In the present study, poly(l-ornithine)--poly(l-phenylalanine) (PLO--PLF) block copolypeptides were prepared and evaluated as macromolecular anticancer agents. Amphiphilic PLO--PLF self-assembles into nanosized polymeric micelles in aqueous solution.

Background: Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive tumor with high brain metastasis (BM) potential. There has been no significant progress in the treatment of SCLC for more than 30 years. Cordycepin has shown the therapeutic potential for cancer by modulating multiple cellular signaling pathways.

An increasing number of studies have confirmed that microRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in various biological processes, including tumor growth and drug resistance. MiR-4284 has been proved to be abnormally regulated in several cancers, but the function of miR-4284 in ovarian carcinoma (OC) is unclear. Paclitaxel resistance is a key obstacle in OC treatment.

The highly regulated proliferation of adipocytes plays a momentous role in fat development and obesity. is an important member of the Hox family, its encoded protein is an important transcription factor related to development, and its differential expression in different adipose tissues seems to indicate that may be involved in the regulation of adipocyte proliferation. To evaluate the regulatory mechanism of on adipocyte proliferation, we constructed a variety of expression vectors in vivo and in vitro to explore its mechanism on adipocyte proliferation and its potential impact on obesity.

The social ameba has emerged as a powerful model to study mitochondrial genetics and bioenergetics. However, a comprehensive inventory of mitochondrial proteins that is critical to understanding mitochondrial processes has yet to be curated. Here, we utilized high-throughput multiplexed protein quantitation and homology analyses to generate a high-confidence mitochondrial protein compendium consisting of 936 proteins.

Capping protein Arp2/3 myosin I linker (CARMIL) proteins are multi-domain scaffold proteins that regulate actin dynamics by regulating the activity of capping protein (CP). Here, we characterize CARMIL-GAP (GAP for GTPase-activating protein), a Dictyostelium CARMIL isoform that contains a ∼130 residue insert that, by homology, confers GTPase-activating properties for Rho-related GTPases. Consistent with this idea, this GAP domain binds Dictyostelium Rac1a and accelerates its rate of GTP hydrolysis.

Equal-thickness screening is a critical part of mineral processing; recently, the multistage variable-inclination equal-thickness screen (MSVIETS) has been utilized in the mining industry across the world. In this work, a model of the collision mechanics between particles and the multistage variable-inclination screen surface was established. The maximum collision force ( ) was found to be closely related to amplitude, frequency, screen surface inclination, and number of stages.

Umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSCs) are regarded as an ideal source for clinical use. Increasing evidence has suggested that microRNAs (miRNAs) work as a crucial regulator in the development of plentiful diseases, including intrauterine adhesions (IUA). Herein, we investigated the specific impacts of UCMSCs overexpressing miR-455-5p in IUA.

The main manifestation of obesity is persistent low-level inflammation and insulin resistance, which is an important factor inducing or promoting other obesity-related diseases. As a proinflammatory programmed cell death, pyroptosis plays an important role, especially in the activation and regulation of the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway. Pyroptosis is associated with the pathogenesis of many chronic inflammatory diseases and is characterized by the formation of micropores in the plasma membrane and the release of a large number of proinflammatory cytokines.
