Adult brainstem gliomas are difficult to classify based on radiologic and histologic features. A K27M mutation in histone 3 has been described to identify high-grade midline gliomas associated with a particularly unfavorable prognosis. While initially considered a pediatric entity, it is now known that H3K27M-mutant brainstem gliomas occur in all age groups, but they are less well understood in adults.

The present study evaluated the effect of Notoginsenoside R1 (NR1) treatment on rat autologous fat graft, along with the quality and retention rates. Male Sprague‑Dawley rats (n=60) received fat particle auto‑transplantation from the left abdominal cavity into lateral dorsum.

We implemented standardized ERAS protocols for all open hepatectomies and replaced thoracic epidurals with a transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block.
Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study of all patients undergoing open hepatectomy during the 14 months before and 19 months after implementation of an ERAS protocol at our institution (January 2014-September 2016).

Background: Average CT has been shown to be more accurate than conventional helical CT in quantitation of the PET data. The risk of CT irradiation of a cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) causing an adverse event is low and is generally outweighed by the clinical benefit of a medically indicated examination. However, irradiation of CIED over one breath cycle in cine CT scan for average CT could impose risks on a patient who is pacing dependent.

This receptor is undetectable in normal brain which makes it a highly suitable target for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. However, the pathological role of this receptor in GBM remains to be established.

Male reproductive disorder are serious complications of type 1 diabetes mellitus. In "diabetic" mice, interstitial edema with inflammatory infiltration and microvascular disorders in the testicular tissue are observed, the number of endothelial precursors (CD45/CD31) and the total number and percentage of motile spermatozoa decreased, immature spermatogenic epithelium cells are desquamated of into the lumen of the tubules.

Included were all 614 patients who underwent primary ascending aortic surgery in 1968-2014 at one Nordic university hospital. Patients were identified and data were collected from patient records and surgical logs.

From December 2013 to January 2014, a total of 7 763 male patients with type 2 diabetes, who received national basic public health service in Changshu county of Suzhou city, Huai'an and Qinghe districts of Huai'an city, Jiangsu province, were recruited by cluster sampling. Questionnaire survey and anthropometric measurements were conducted, and fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels were measured.

Here, we present a system that utilizes a series of toehold-triggered hybridization/displacement reactions that are designed to convert a given amount of RNA molecules (i.e.

Methods: Nordic Consortium for Acute Type A Aortic Dissection is a retrospective database comprising 1159 patients (mean age 61.
Background: Surgery for acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) is often complicated by excessive bleeding. Recombinant factor VIIa (rFVIIa) effectively treats refractory bleeding associated with ATAAD surgery; however, adverse effects of rFVIIa in these patients have not been fully assessed. Here we evaluated rFVIIa treatment in ATAAD surgery using the Nordic Consortium for Acute Type A Aortic Dissection (NORCAAD) database.

Methods: Patients with mild to moderate asymmetrical ptosis (N = 300) who underwent advancement or plication of upper eyelid aponeurosis between January 2014 and July 2016 were enrolled.
Mesenchymal liver hamartomas are benign tumors that can cause life-threatening abdominal distension and carry a risk for malignant transformation. In this case report, we describe a 13-month-old male with Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome (BWS) who presented with multiple mesenchymal liver hamartomas causing severe intra-abdominal mass effect. Imaging revealed six large multi-locular cystic lesions, ranging from 3.

Materials And Methods: Data were collected from 173 patients with stage III non-IBC and 17 patients with IBC diagnosed at the Keck Medical Center and Los Angeles County and University of Southern California (LAC+USC) Medical Center.

Purpose: To assess the outcomes of benign meningiomas (BM) treated to two radiation dose levels.
Methods And Materials: We randomly assigned patients (1:1) with incompletely resected or recurrent BM to 2 radiation doses: 55.8 Gy(relative biological effectiveness [RBE]) and 63.
Purpose: To develop echo-planar spectroscopic imaging (EPSI) with large spectral width and accomplish high-resolution imaging of 2-hydroxyglutarate (2HG) at 7 T.
Methods: We designed a new EPSI readout scheme at 7 T. Data were recorded with dual-readout alternated gradients and combined according to the gradient polarity.
The properties of spermatogonial stem cells, endothelial progenitor cells, and the epithelial progenitors of C57Bl/6 mice under conditions of metabolic disorders were studied using the model of busulfan-induced suppression of spermatogenesis and in vitro culture technique. Spermatogonial stem cells CD117-CD90 and epithelial progenitors CD45-CD31-Sca-1CD49f derived from the testes of mice with metabolic disturbances demonstrated 17- and 28-fold increase in the respective cell mass and generated cell colonies in vitro. In contrast, spermatogonial stem cells with immune phenotype CD51-CD24CD52 had reduced selfrenewal capacity.

EGFR gene amplification and mutation are common in glioblastoma (GBM), but EGFR inhibition has not been effective in treating this tumor. Here we propose that primary resistance to EGFR inhibition in glioma cells results from a rapid compensatory response to EGFR inhibition that mediates cell survival.

The precise measurement of Gly is challenging largely as a result of the spectral overlap with myo-inositol (mI). We report a new triple-refocusing sequence for the reliable co-detection of Gly and mI at 3 T and for the evaluation of Gly in healthy and tumorous brain.

According to the recently updated World Health Organization (WHO) classification (2016), grade II-III astrocytomas are divided into IDH-wildtype and IDH-mutant groups, the latter being significantly less aggressive in terms of both progression-free and total survival. We identified a small cohort of WHO grade II-III astrocytomas that harbored the IDH1 R132H mutation, as confirmed by both immunohistochemistry and molecular sequence analysis, which nonetheless had unexpectedly rapid recurrence and subsequent progression to glioblastoma. Among these four cases, the mean time to recurrence as glioblastoma was only 16 months and the mean total survival among the three patients who have died during the follow-up was only 31 months.
