Solid-state batteries (SSBs) are considered to be one of the most promising candidates for next-generation energy storage systems due to the high safety, high energy density and wide operating temperature range of solid-state electrolytes (SSEs) they use. Unfortunately, the practical application of SSEs has rarely been successful, which is largely attributed to the low chemical stability and ionic conductivity, ineluctable solid-solid interface issues including limited ion transport channels, high energy barriers, and poor interface contact. A comprehensive understanding of ion transport mechanisms of various SSEs, interactions between fillers and polymer matrixes and the role of the interface in SSBs are indispensable for rational design and performance optimization of novel electrolytes.

We recently described a subgroup of autopsied COVID-19 subjects (∼40%), termed 'profibrotic phenotype,' who exhibited clusters of myofibroblasts (Mfbs), which were positive for the collagen-specific chaperone heat shock protein 47 (HSP47) in situ. The 3 dB power splitters are fundamental building blocks for integrated photonic devices. As data capacity requirements continue to rise, there is a growing interest in integrated devices that can accommodate multiple spectral bands, including the conventional O-, C-, and L-bands, and the emerging 2 µm band. Here we propose and experimentally demonstrate a 3 dB power splitter based on adiabatic mode evolution using a thin-film lithium niobate, with ultra-broadband operation bandwidth from 1200 to 2100 nm.

The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity of transition metal (TM)-based (oxy)hydroxide is dominated by the number and nature of surface active sites, which are generally considered to be TM atoms occupying less than half of surface sites, with most being inactive oxygen atoms. Herein, based on an in situ competing growth strategy of bimetallic ions and OH ions, a facile one-step method is proposed to modulate oxygen defects in NiFe-layered double hydroxide (NiFe-LDH)/FeOOH heterostructure, which may trigger the single lattice oxygen mechanism (sLOM). Interestingly, by only varying the addition of H O , one can simultaneously regulate the concentration of oxygen defects, the valence of metal sites, and the ratio of components.

This study aimed to assess the accuracy of cortical bone trajectory (CBT) screws placement guided by a spinous process clamp (SPC) guide. A total of 32 patients who received single-level midline lumbar fusion (MIDLF) surgery between June 2019 and January 2020 were retrospectively analyzed and divided into free-hand (FH) and SPC-guided groups according to the surgical approach. DUSP4 is a member of the DUSP (Dual-Specificity Phosphatase) subfamily that is selective to the mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) and has been implicated in a range of biological processes and functions in Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study, we utilized stereotactic delivery of adeno-associated virus (AAV)-DUSP4 to overexpress DUSP4 in the dorsal hippocampus of 5×FAD and wildtype (WT) mice, then used mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics along with label-free quantification to profile the proteome and phosphoproteome in the hippocampus. We identified patterns of protein expression and phosphorylation that are modulated in 5×FAD mice and examined the sex-specific impact of DUSP4 overexpression on the 5×FAD proteome/phosphoproteome.

Background: Obesity and adiposity are associated with an increased risk of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF); yet, specific underlying mechanisms remain unclear. We sought to examine the association of obesity-related biomarkers including adipokines (leptin, resistin, adiponectin), inflammatory markers (CRP [C-reactive protein], IL-6 [interleukin-6]), and insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) with HFpEF status, exercise capacity, and cardiovascular outcomes.

Background: Dual specificity protein phosphatase 6 (DUSP6) was recently identified as a key hub gene in a causal network that regulates late-onset Alzheimer's disease. Importantly, decreased DUSP6 levels are correlated with an increased clinical dementia rating in human subjects, and DUSP6 levels are additionally decreased in the 5xFAD amyloidopathy mouse model.
