Nurses cannot give what they do not have; but responding to personal spiritual needs equips nurses to meet patients' soul needs. The biblical account of sisters Mary and Martha (Luke 10:38-42) provides insight on the importance of Christian discipleship and dilegent work, suggesting Christian nurses may need to be like Mary--sitting at Jesus' feet, and Martha--working for Christ.
