Introduction: A main feature of CDH is lung hypoplasia and the related presentation of pulmonary hypertension and cardiac dysfunction. Multiple factors influence pulmonary status after CDH: degree of hypoplasia, ventilator-induced injury, altered growth and development of pulmonary structures, reduced diaphragm function and chest wall abnormalities. The evolution of pulmonary sequela in this population is still unclear.

Methods: This was a prospective, randomised, controlled, double-blinded, single-centre study allocating patients scheduled for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) lobectomy to post-operative pain management using either thoracic epidural analgesia or oral morphine. We compared pre-, per-, and post-operative plasma levels of interleukin (IL)-6, IL-10, IL-12, and interferon (IFN)-γ using regression analysis, and conducted a two-year survival follow-up.
Background: Survival of infants with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) has increased and more insight is warranted on the long-term issues of this condition.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study on consecutively born infants with CDH treated at a non-extracorporeal membrane oxygenation centre (ECMO) from 1998 to 2015. Quality of life was evaluated using the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory Generic Core Scale 4.
Background: Low-dose naltrexone is used to treat fibromyalgia despite minimal evidence for its efficacy. This trial aimed to investigate whether 12-week treatment with 6 mg low-dose naltrexone was superior to placebo for reducing pain in women with fibromyalgia.
Methods: We did a single-centre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in Denmark.
Background: The use of thoracic epidural analgesia for postoperative pain management in video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) is controversial. Still, the evidence on omitting it in favour of systemic opioids is inconclusive, and studies are small and non-blinded.

Background: Postictal encephalopathy is well known after status epilepticus (SE), but its prognostic impact and triggers are unknown. Here, we aimed to establish risk factors for the development of postictal encephalopathy and to study its impact on survival after discharge.

Background: Chronic pain is a major health problem worldwide but the limited knowledge of its underlying pathophysiology impairs the opportunities for diagnostics and treatment. We aimed to report on early enteral nutritional support in symptomatic CDH patients during the pre- and postoperative period, including feasibility, associated factors with established full enteral nutrition, and weight at birth, discharge, and 18 months.
Methods: We retrospectively collected data on nutrition: type and volume of enteral nutrition and parental support.
Purpose: This study aimed to assess the effect of different blood pressure levels on global cerebral metabolism in comatose patients resuscitated from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA).
Methods: In a double-blinded trial, we randomly assigned 60 comatose patients following OHCA to low (63 mmHg) or high (77 mmHg) mean arterial blood pressure (MAP). The trial was a sub-study in the Blood Pressure and Oxygenation Targets after Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest-trial (BOX).
Purpose: Postoperative monitoring of circulation and respiration is pivotal to guide intervention strategies and ensure patient outcomes. Transcutaneous blood gas monitoring (TCM) may allow for noninvasive assessment of changes in cardiopulmonary function after surgery, including a more direct assessment of local micro-perfusion and metabolism. To form the basis for studies assessing the clinical impact of TCM complication detection and goal-directed-therapy, we examined the association between clinical interventions in the postoperative period and changes in transcutaneous blood gasses.

A few small trials with a high risk of bias have investigated the effect of LDN on pain associated with fibromyalgia in women, but larger and more methodologically robust studies are needed. The primary aim of this randomized controlled trial is to investigate if 12 weeks of LDN treatment is superior to placebo in reducing the average pain intensity during the last 7 days in women with fibromyalgia.
