Aggregation of Aβ is a pathological hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD). The purpose of this study was to identify the protective roles of different polysaccharide components in Fomes officinalis Ames polysaccharides (FOAPs) against Aβ-induced neurotoxicity in PC12 cells. Different doses of FOAPs components (i.

8-Chrysoeriol, a bioactive flavanoid, was firstly identified to bind directly to BCL-2 as BH3 mimetics by structure-based virtual ligand screening. And 3D docking model revealed the molecular basis of 8-Chrysoeriol targeting to BCL-2. The interaction between 8-Chrysoeriol and BCL-2 was further confirmed using Microscale Thermophoresis (MST) technique.

The secretive Klotho protein is an anti-aging regulatory hormone that plays a physiological role in many target organs. The present study aims to investigate the correlation between gene and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in Uygur and Han populations in Xinjiang. From July 2008 to April 2014, stratified random multistage cluster sampling was used in combination with the methods of on-site questionnaire and household survey to conduct a cross-sectional MCI investigation on selected Uygur and Han subjects aged over 60 years old in Xinjiang region.

Objective: To assess the association of KCNE1 (rs1805127) and KCNE4 (rs12621643) polymorphisms with atrial fibrillation (AF) among ethnic Uygur and Han Chinese in Xinjiang.

Methods: A case-control study was carried out. The patients and controls were selected based on ethnicity, gender and age with an 1:1 ratio.

Septic acute kidney injury (AKI) and myocardial dysfunction are leading causes of mortality with no accepted method of therapy. In this study we demonstrate the role of growth differentiating factor 15 (GDF15) in septic AKI and myocardial dysfunction using a murine lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced sepsis model and an in vitro cell culture system. Data show that GDF15 deficiency augments inflammatory response and exacerbates renal and cardiac injury induced by LPS, while over-expression of GDF15 protects the kidney and heart from LPS-induced organ dysfunction.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Lonicerae Japonicae Flos (Jin-Yin-Hua) is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine used for clearing away heat and toxic material.

Aim Of The Study: This study aims to observe the attenuation of aqueous extract of Lonicerae Japonicae Flos (FL) against streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic retinopathy (DR) and its engaged mechanism.

Materials And Methods: STZ-induced proliferative DR (PDR) for 5 month in C57BL/6 mice was used in this study.

Objective: To investigate prevalence of atrial fibrillation (AF) in Uygur and Han elderly populations in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region (Xinjiang).

Methods: Epidemiological survey was conducted among the residents selected through stratified random cluster sampling in the southern, northern and eastern Xinjiang.

Results: The overall AF prevalence among Uygur and Han elderly people was 3.

Background: The relationship between KCNE1 G38S genetic polymorphism and non-valvular atrial fibrillation is different among different populations. The study explored the KCNE1 G38S to understand if the KCNE1 G38S is associated with the Uygur atrial fibrillation patients.

Methods: KCNE1 G38S genetic polymorphism was determined between 237 non-valvular atrial fibrillation cases and 237 control subjects using PCR-RFLP.

Aim: Currently, there are almost 100 genes related to Alzheimer's disease (AD), and studies have indicated that apolipoprotein E (APO E) ε4 allele is a genetic risk factor of AD. However, there have been no reports of the distributions of APO E genotypes and allele frequencies in Uighur and Han AD patients.

Methods: We analyzed APO E gene polymorphism in 209 AD cases diagnosed based on National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke and Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association and 220 non-dementia controls.
