Traumatic arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is not a common disorder, and dermatological signs and heart failure caused by AVF are rarely reported. We present the case of a 55-year-old woman who was referred for congestive heart failure symptoms. Echocardiography revealed preserved left ventricular ejection fraction.

Studies showed that sulfhydryl ACEIs have the antioxidative potential to improve endothelial function, which might have a clinical effect on arterial distensibility. However, there are no studies that directly compare the effects of sulfhydryl (zofenopril) and non-sulfhydryl ACEIs (enalapril) on arterial stiffness.

The present study aimed to determine how much the duration of diabetes mellitus (DM) affect the reparative ability of the body, immune response and the development of DM complications. Interleukin 1-β (IL-1β) and Interleukin 6 (IL-6) were monitored as specific indicators of inflammatory reaction and C-reactive protein (CRP), leukocyte count (WBC) and sedimentation rate (ESR) as general markers of inflammatory reaction.

Pharmacokinetic evaluations of total and unbound methadone enantiomers (R and S) were conducted before and after SQV/rtv. SQV/rtv was well tolerated, with no ACTG Grade 3-4 adverse events, no evidence of sedation, and no changes in methadone dose.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAn RNA homologous to U2 RNA and a single copy gene encoding the RNA homolog have been characterized in the microsporidian, Vairimorpha necatrix. The RNA which is 165 nucleotides in length possesses significant similarity to U2 RNA, particularly in the 5' half of the molecule. The U2 homolog contains the highly conserved GUAGUA branch point binding sequence seen in all U2 RNAs except those of the trypanosomes.
