Background: Despite evidence supporting use of fractional flow reserve (FFR) and instantaneous waves-free ratio (iFR) to improve outcome of patients undergoing coronary angiography (CA) and percutaneous coronary intervention, such techniques are still underused in clinical practice due to economic and logistic issues.

Objectives: We aimed to develop an artificial intelligence (AI)-based application to compute FFR and iFR from plain CA.

Methods And Results: Consecutive patients performing FFR or iFR or both were enrolled.

We propose wake-sleep consolidated learning (WSCL), a learning strategy leveraging complementary learning system (CLS) theory and the wake-sleep phases of the human brain to improve the performance of deep neural networks (DNNs) for visual classification tasks in continual learning (CL) settings. Our method learns continually via the synchronization between distinct wake and sleep phases. During the wake phase, the model is exposed to sensory input and adapts its representations, ensuring stability through a dynamic parameter freezing mechanism and storing episodic memories in a short-term temporary memory (similar to what happens in the hippocampus).

Introduction: Cannabidiol (CBD) exhibits neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory properties, making it a promising candidate for addressing inflammatory skin disorders like atopic dermatitis.

Aim: This study aimed to (i) investigate CBD's impact on lymphocyte proliferation and lymphocyte viability; (ii) assess cytotoxicity U937 cells (a human promonocytic cell line) of CBD/cytotoxicity of CBD on U937 cells; (iii) provide insights into CBD immunomodulatory potential, and (iv) evaluate suitability of CBD for treating inflammatory skin conditions.

Material And Methods: To this aim PBMCs from healthy donors were cultured with mitogen and two different CBD doses (0.

The quantification of stenosis severity from X-ray catheter angiography is a challenging task. Indeed, this requires to fully understand the lesion's geometry by analyzing dynamics of the contrast material, only relying on visual observation by clinicians. To support decision making for cardiac intervention, we propose a hybrid CNN-Transformer model for the assessment of angiography-based non-invasive fractional flow-reserve (FFR) and instantaneous wave-free ratio (iFR) of intermediate coronary stenosis.

The reactivation of TERT is associated with poor outcome in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). Extra-telomeric functions of TERT were reported, with a protective role against oxidative stress (OS). The aim of the present study was to explore the extra-nuclear TERT localization in PTC and its role in cancer progression.

This Letter reports the observation of single top quarks produced together with a photon, which directly probes the electroweak coupling of the top quark. The analysis uses 139  fb^{-1} of 13 TeV proton-proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Requiring a photon with transverse momentum larger than 20 GeV and within the detector acceptance, the fiducial cross section is measured to be 688±23(stat) _{-71}^{+75}(syst)  fb, to be compared with the standard model prediction of 515_{-42}^{+36}  fb at next-to-leading order in QCD.

This Letter reports the observation of τ-lepton-pair production in ultraperipheral lead-lead collisions Pb+Pb→Pb(γγ→ττ)Pb and constraints on the τ-lepton anomalous magnetic moment a_{τ}. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.44  nb^{-1} of LHC Pb+Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.

Jet quenching is the process of color-charged partons losing energy via interactions with quark-gluon plasma droplets created in heavy-ion collisions. The collective expansion of such droplets is well described by viscous hydrodynamics. Similar evidence of collectivity is consistently observed in smaller collision systems, including pp and p+Pb collisions.

A test of CP invariance in Higgs boson production via vector-boson fusion has been performed in the H→γγ channel using 139  fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13  TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The optimal observable method is used to probe the CP structure of interactions between the Higgs boson and electroweak gauge bosons, as described by an effective field theory. No sign of CP violation is observed in the data.

A search for a long-lived, heavy neutral lepton (N) in 139  fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13  TeV pp collision data collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider is reported. The N is produced via W→Nμ or W→Ne and decays into two charged leptons and a neutrino, forming a displaced vertex. The N mass is used to discriminate between signal and background.

Volcano-seismic signals can help for volcanic hazard estimation and eruption forecasting. However, the underlying mechanism for their low frequency components is still a matter of debate. Here, we show signatures of dynamic strain records from Distributed Acoustic Sensing in the low frequencies of volcanic signals at Vulcano Island, Italy.

Oxidative stress (OS) can have an impact in the pathogenesis and in the progression of thyroid cancer. We investigated the levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in 50 malignant and benign thyroid lesions and 41 normal tissues, and correlated them with the thyroid differentiation score-TDS and the clinico-pathologic features. NOX4 expression, GPx activity and the genetic pattern of tumors were evaluated.

This Letter reports the observation of WWW production and a measurement of its cross section using 139  fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Events with two same-sign leptons (electrons or muons) and at least two jets, as well as events with three charged leptons, are selected. A multivariate technique is then used to discriminate between signal and background events.

Aim: The aim of this study was to understand male high school students' perceptions of nursing as a professional career choice.

Background: Nursing is predominantly female, with male nurses accounting for less than 10 percent of the nursing workforce.

Method: A 32-item descriptive survey that contained demography items and constructs of the theory of planned behavior was administered to 820 high school students from a large Pacific Northwest school district.

A search for lepton-flavor-violating Z→eτ and Z→μτ decays with pp collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented. This analysis uses 139  fb^{-1} of Run 2 pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13  TeV and is combined with the results of a similar ATLAS search in the final state in which the τ lepton decays hadronically, using the same data set as well as Run 1 data. The addition of leptonically decaying τ leptons significantly improves the sensitivity reach for Z→ℓτ decays.

A search for new phenomena is presented in final states with two leptons and one or no b-tagged jets. The event selection requires the two leptons to have opposite charge, the same flavor (electrons or muons), and a large invariant mass. The analysis is based on the full run-2 proton-proton collision dataset recorded at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13  TeV by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139  fb^{-1}.
