Data on pregnancy outcomes in patients with alopecia areata (AA) are limited. The aim of this study is to determine the association between maternal AA and risk of adverse birth outcomes in children. A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 45,328 children born to mothers with AA and 4,703,253 controls born to mothers without AA using the Korean National Health Insurance Claims database from 2002 to 2016.

Due to the swift advancement of the electronic industry and information technology, electromagnetic wave absorption materials are gaining significance in the field of intelligent equipment and weaponry. Nanomaterials were developed to investigate wave absorbing materials that can achieve both impedance matching and attenuation balance. Nanomaterials possess the properties of being thin, lightweight, and capable of absorbing microwave radiation across a wide range of frequencies.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the records of patients who underwent laparoscopic adrenalectomy between 2012 and 2022 at the College of Medicine, Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital, The Catholic University of Korea (Seoul, Republic of Korea).
Particulate matter (PM) is a harmful air pollutant composed of chemicals and metals which affects human health by penetrating both the respiratory system and skin, causing oxidative stress and inflammation. This review investigates the association between PM and skin disease, focusing on the underlying molecular mechanisms and specific disease pathways involved. Studies have shown that PM exposure is positively associated with skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, acne, and skin aging.

However, assessment of embolization endpoints requires x-ray fluoroscopic monitoring, exposing patients and physicians performing embolization procedures to harmful ionizing radiation. Moreover, x-ray fluoroscopy assessment of embolization endpoints is low sensitivity, subjective, and may not reflect the actual physiology of blood flow reduction, thus providing little oversight of the embolization procedure.

Studies suggest that failure to disrupt this veil during posterior fossa decompression can reduce the likelihood of syringomyelia resolution. However, there is no reliable method for predicting the presence of the veil without direct surgical exploration.

However, the validity of the score and the association between that score and the prognosis of patients in surgical intensive care units (SICUs) remain unclear. This study explored whether the score was a useful prognostic indicator for SICU patients, and whether survival could be improved via nutritional interventions based on mNUTRIC status.

We previously proposed a novel classification and scoring system for scalp conditions, called the scalp photographic index (SPI); it grades five scalp features using trichoscopic images with good reliability. However, it requires trained evaluators.

Recently, poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase-1 (PARP-1) has emerged as a target in solid cancers, and its relationship with epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) has been observed. However, the relationship between PARP-1 and EMT in PAC has not explored well.

We aimed to identify the characteristics, clues for early detection, and prognostic factors for early pancreatic cancer by analyzing a large number of patients with stage 1 pancreatic cancer.
Methods: A clinical data warehouse that includes databases of all the medical records of eight academic institutions was used to select and analyze patients with pancreatic cancer that had been diagnosed from January 2010 to May 2023.
Introduction: The agreement between the radiologic and histopathologic tumor locations in T2 gallbladder cancer is critical. There is no consensus regarding the extent of curative resection by tumor locations.
Methods: Between January 2010 and December 2019, a consecutive series of 118 patients with pathological T2 gallbladder cancer who underwent surgery were retrospectively analyzed in terms of the accordance between radiologic and histopathologic tumor locations, the extents of hepatic resection and the numbers of harvested lymph nodes.
Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorder. Unique ASD subtypes have been proposed based on specific genotype-phenotype combinations. The ASD subtype associated with various chromodomain helicase DNA-binding protein 8 (CHD8) mutations has been associated with an incidence of autistic regression greater than that of all-cause ASD, but the mean age of onset of this subtype remains unknown.

An in-depth investigation of comorbidities and their effects on health can help improve the management of patients with psoriasis. We conducted a comprehensive and unbiased investigation of comorbidities in patients with psoriasis and explored the pattern of association between comorbidities.

This scoping review focuses on the factors that influence health data poverty, by conducting a literature review, analysis, and appraisal of results. Health data poverty is often an unseen factor which leads to perpetuating or exacerbating health disparities.

The Sana.NCD mobile health (mHealth) app, initially developed in Lebanon, is the only known mHealth tool for NCD management designed to increase care quality and coverage for providers in humanitarian settings.

Purpose: Previous gastrectomy (PG) can lead to an increased incidence of biliary stones. However, the success rate of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography after gastrectomy remains low. In such cases, laparoscopic common bile duct exploration (LCBDE) may be an alternative.

The severity of PPP is usually evaluated using the Palmoplantar Pustulosis Area and Severity Index (PPPASI). Among the components of the PPPASI, the area of the involved lesion is evaluated differently by raters, who generally make a rough estimate using the eye and not through a specific calculation.
