Traumatic burst fractures of the atlas occur with axial loading of the cervical spine. Many of these injuries can be treated by nonsurgical management with external orthosis; however, cases with transverse ligament disruption or significant C1 lateral mass displacement require internal reduction and fixation. In patients with poor bone quality in the setting of osteoporosis or chronic illness, atlanto-axial fixation and reduction of the fracture can be a challenge, necessitating extension of fusion to the occiput, which significantly limits the range of motion.

The prospective observational multicenter PREDIBACK study aimed to assess, compare, and predict the effectiveness of different treatments for persistent spinal pain syndrome type 2 (PSPS-T2) using a digital tool and the Multidimensional Clinical Response Index (MCRI) including pain intensity, functional disability, quality of life, anxiety and depression, and pain surface. Results indicated that neurostimulation was the most effective treatment at 3-, 6-, 9-, and 12-month follow-up compared to baseline, leading to significant improvements in pain, function, and quality of life, whereas optimized medical management (OMM) and spinal reoperation showed no significant benefits.

This imaging modality provides high-resolution, dynamic visualization of superficial soft tissue structures, making it particularly advantageous for assessing conditions such as lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), ligamentous injuries, radial tunnel syndrome, and other common disorders. This article reviews the utility of MSKUS for rehabilitation providers, focusing on its role in accurately identifying pathoanatomical changes, guiding treatment strategies, and monitoring therapeutic outcomes.

Patient experience data can also provide actionable information to guide health care quality improvement; positive feedback can confirm the efficacy of current practices and systems, while negative comments can identify areas for improvement.
Objective: This study aimed to understand families' perspectives regarding their children's surgical recovery using qualitative patient experience data (free-text comments) from a prospective cohort study conducted within a larger study developing a postoperative-outcome risk stratification model.
Musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSK-US) has become an increasingly valuable tool in the evaluation and management of soft tissue and joint pathologies, particularly for rehabilitation providers. This article highlights the use of MSK-US for assessing the iliopsoas tendon and musculature in the anterior hip. The iliopsoas complex is often implicated in conditions such as tendinitis, snapping hip syndrome, and hip flexor strains, and accurate assessment can be challenging due to its deep anatomical location.

This case report presents the diagnostic and management challenges of EGPA-related arrhythmias in a remote general hospital setting.
Case Summary: A 64-year-old Caucasian male presented with an indolent prodrome of fatigue, shortness of breath and anorexia, that culminated in an acute presentation with pulmonary embolism.
Background: Surgical treatment of adult spinal deformity (ASD) commonly involves long-segment fusion with or without three column osteotomies (3CO) to provide satisfactory correction of sagittal and coronal balance. While some clinical studies have implicated 3CO as a driver of high surgical complication rates, these prior investigations are limited by small sample size. Herein, we compare early outcomes and adverse events in patients undergoing long segment posterior spinal fusion for ASD with and without 3CO.

Medial collateral ligament (MCL) injuries are prevalent in sports and other physical activities and constitute a significant cause of knee pain and dysfunction. Traditional diagnostic modalities such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are often utilized for their detailed visualization capabilities. However, musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSK-US) has emerged as a pivotal diagnostic tool in the evaluation of MCL injuries due to its non-invasive nature, cost-effectiveness, and dynamic imaging capabilities.

Accurate estimates of dairy consumption are therefore important for monitoring dietary transition targets. Previous studies found that disaggregating the meat out of composite foods significantly impacts estimates of meat consumption.

The rotator cuff, comprising the subscapularis, supraspinatus, infraspinatus, and teres minor muscles, plays a crucial role in stabilizing the glenohumeral joint by securing the head of the humerus within the glenoid cavity of the scapula. The tendinous insertions of these muscles generate tension within the capsule, enhancing joint stability during muscular activity. The rotator cuff is susceptible to damage from disease, injury, or trauma, which can result in tears or ruptures of one or more tendons.

Tumors of the brachial plexus (BP) with both supra- and infraclavicular components are uncommon and represent a challenge to complete surgical resection. There are few reports on single clavicular osteotomies for BP exposure; however, there are currently no reports of utilization of a clavicular window for a large schwannoma resection.
