Background: Anastomotic leakage (AL) is one of the severest complications after laparoscopic surgery for middle/low rectal cancer, significantly impacting patient outcomes. Identifying reliable predictive factors for AL remains a clinical challenge. Serum nutritional biomarkers have been implicated in surgical outcomes but are underexplored as predictive tools for AL in this setting.

TME-related genes are limited in their ability to predict gastric cancer (GC) outcomes. We utilized data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) to investigate the functional roles of TME-related genes in GC.

Introduction: VASH2 is associated with the malignant progression of a variety of tumors, but the role and mechanism of VASH2 in colorectal cancer are still unclear.
Methods: We analyzed the expression of VASH2 in colorectal cancer from the TCGA database and also analyzed the relationship between VASH2 expression and survival of colorectal cancer patients in the PrognoScan database. We verified the role of VASH2 in colorectal cancer through transfecting si-VASH2 into colorectal cancer cells and detecting cell viability by CCK8, cell migration by wound healing assay, and cell invasion by Transwell assay.
Colon cancer is a malignant tumor that seriously affects human health. Recently, studies revealed that the expression of MTBP enhanced the proliferation and metastasis of many types of cancer cells. And the data also showed that MTBP has the potential to regulate the expression of ZEB2.

Epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) promotes metastatic progression and cancer stem cells are closely involved in colon cancer proliferation and metastasis. Functional effects of miR-377 on colon cancer stem cell phenotypes and EMT were then determined in the present study.

In the present study, the mRNA expression and promoter methylation of TFF1 and TFF3 in cancer and adjacent normal tissues were investigated, and their association with other clinical factors and patient prognosis were evaluated. Moreover, the association between TFF3 and epithelial‑mesenchymal transition (EMT) was explored by overexpressing or inhibiting TFF3 expression.
