Results of arthroscopically assisted reduction and fixation of anteromedial facet coronoid fractures at short-term follow-up.

Background: Varus posteromedial rotatory instability is a typical pattern of elbow injury that involves fracture of the anteromedial facet (AMF) of the coronoid, as well as injuries to the lateral ligament complex and the posterior bundle of the medial collateral ligament. Some authors support the idea that subtype II AMF coronoid fractures require fixation to restore elbow stability, but this topic is still an issue in the literature. The purpose of this study was to assess the clinical and radiologic outcomes of arthroscopically assisted reduction and internal fixation (ARIF) of AMF fractures.

Radiocapitellar plica: a narrative review.

Radiocapitellar plica is a vestigial lateral portion of elbow synovial fold which may cause pain and snap in some cases. Plica is a difficult and misleading diagnosis and it could be easily confused with a common lateral epicondylitis however, they are different conditions. Pathology full understanding and proper diagnosis is essential to achieve patient's pain relief and functional recovery therefore, we reviewed the most relevant literature about radiocapitaller plica.

The Role of Information in Dental Traumatology in Patients during Developmental Age: A Cognitive Investigation.

Objectives:  The gestation period involves a series of changes in all maternal organs and systems, due to hormonal fluctuations that also affect the oral cavity, leading to possible development of diseases such as gingivitis, oral pregnancy tumor, or periodontitis. Over the years, the positive correlation between poor oral health and adverse outcomes in pregnancy, such as fetal changes, low birth weight, preterm birth, or preeclampsia, has also been highlighted. The aim of this study is to analyze and understand the levels of knowledge and information of pregnant women about the possible repercussions that they may have on the oral cavity, caused by hormonal alterations.

Measuring pathological traits of the schizotypal personality disorder through the HiTOP model.

Schizotypal personality disorder (STPD) is characterized by difficulties in intimate relationships, social and interpersonal deficits, and perceptual distortions. Encompassing this personality disorder and other mental conditions, the Hierarchical taxonomy of psychopathology (HiTOP) is an evidence-based, dimensional model covering pathological traits in its lower range. This study aimed to develop a self-report scale for screening pathological traits of STPD from the perspective of the HiTOP.

RADIAL head arthroplasty: does ligaments repair influence outcomes? A minimum two years follow-up radiographic multi-center study.

Purpose: The current indication for comminuted radial head fractures is radial head arthroplasty (RHA). The main purpose of this study was to investigate any statistical differences in terms of prosthesis revision or removal and radiographic degenerative changes by comparing patients who underwent RHA and ligaments repair to those who underwent only RHA implant at minimum two years follow-up. The secondary aim was to delineate a trend profile of RHA implants.

Validation of the cross-cultural adapted Italian version of the Oxford Elbow Score.

Background: The Oxford Elbow Score (OES) is an English-language questionnaire specifically designed to evaluate surgical elbow outcomes. This scoring system has been translated into other languages. Given the lack of an Italian version of the OES, the present study was designed to establish, culturally adapt, and validate the Italian version.

Arthroscopically-assisted reduction and pinning of a radial neck fracture in a child: a case report and review of the literature.

Background: Displaced radial neck fractures in children are challenging to treat. The age of the patient and the degree of angulation are the main criteria to consider when managing these fractures in children. Various surgical techniques have been described in the literature for both indirect and direct reduction and for fixation.

Arthroscopic superior capsular reconstruction versus latissimus dorsi transfer for irreparable rotator cuff lesions: a systematic review.

Introduction: The present systematic review compared arthroscopic superior capsular reconstruction (ASCR) and latissimus dorsi transfer (ALDT) for the management of massive irreparable rotator cuff lesions.

Sources Of Data: We performed a systematic review searching the literature on Medline, Cochrane and Scopus databases, following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.

Areas Of Agreement: We included a total of 20 articles, 10 on ASCR and 10 on ALDT (12 retrospective and 8 prospective studies), all published between 2013 and 2019.

Minimally invasive fixation techniques for thoracolumbar fractures: comparison between percutaneous pedicle screw with intermediate screw (PPSIS) and percutaneous pedicle screw with kyphoplasty (PPSK).

Purpose: To assess and compare the efficacy of two minimally invasive techniques (percutaneous pedicle screw with intermediate screw vs. percutaneous pedicle screw with kyphoplasty) for spinal fracture fixation by comparing the segmental kyphosis and vertebral kyphosis angles after trauma before surgery, after surgery, and at 4-month and 12-month follow-up.

Methods: Data from 49 patients without neurological deficit treated by either percutaneous pedicle screw with intermediate screw or percutaneous pedicle screw with kyphoplasty were retrospectively analysed.

Understanding the collaborative-participatory design.

In this study, the role of collaboration in design is discussed, placing emphasis on how to include end-users in the development process. The study is based on a literature review focusing on aspects of collaboration in design, usability and human factors. Thereby, it introduces, compares and contrasts the characteristics of both collaborative and user-centered design perspectives, leading to the collaborative-participatory design approach.

A children, teachers and designers as evaluators of usability of educational software.

This article sets out to discuss the results of evaluations of usability made by children, teachers and designers through methods targeted on their profiles and contexts of use. Based on a survey of methods for evaluating usability, a field study was conducted in which such users--stakeholders--explored the educational software called "Mundo da Criança" ("Child's World"). The focus of this study was the analysis of this system and principally of the appropriateness of methods as to the avenues they suggest such users and contexts might explore.

[Patient opinions on the experiences of psychiatric hospitalization: a qualitative study].

Introduction: The evaluation of the patients' perspective of psychiatric admission is useful to define what is the therapeutic milieu and important to improve treatment quality.

Aim: This study aimed to explore the patients' perspective of psychiatric admission to a residential unit for intensive rehabilitation treatment.

Methods: A questionnaire, assessing the patients' experiences of psychiatric admission developed from previous studies, has been administered to a series of inpatients at the rehabilitation unit "La Luna", University of Ferrara, Department of Mental Health.

Adsorption sites and ligand effect for CO on an alloy surface: a direct view.

CO adsorption on a PtCo(111) surface was studied by scanning tunneling microscopy. Comparison of images with chemical contrast of Pt and Co and images showing the CO molecules indicates that CO resides exclusively on top of Pt sites and never on Co. CO bonding is highly sensitive to the chemical environment.

[An estimation of the prevalence of hanseniasis by research in non-specific demand for health services].

In view of the importance of knowing the prevalence and incidence rates of a disease to learn about its behavior and control at the collective level, a study was undertaken to determine the occurrence of hanseniasis among the clients of health agencies and to explore the use of this methodology for estimating the epidemiologic "iceberg" of the disease, i.e., the total number of cases including those that are not officially reported.
