Burden of neurologic diseases in BRICS countries (1990 to 2021): an analysis of 2021 Global Burden of Disease Study.

Background: Neurological disorders are a major global health concern, especially in BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), where demographic and socio-economic changes have amplified their impact. This study evaluates trends in incidence, prevalence, mortality, and Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) associated with neurological diseases in these countries from 1990 to 2021, focusing on sex disparities and key risk factors.

Methods: Data were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2021 database.

Effectiveness of (Mustard) Plaster on Reduction of Knee Pain and Inability among Geriatrics with Osteoarthritis.

Pre-experimental one-group pretest posttest research design was adopted to investigate the effectiveness of (mustard) plaster on reduction of knee pain and inability among 60 geriatrics with osteoarthritis. The inability was assessed using the Western Ontario McMaster University (WOMAC) Index, which includes 24 parameters under three major headings: joint pain, joint stiffness, and difficulty in performing daily activities, and the severity of pain level was assessed using a numerical pain rating scale. Mustard plaster is applied against the knee for 15 minutes once a day for seven days.

Effectiveness of Aqueous Hibiscus Sabdariffa Extract on Reduction of Blood Pressure and Serum Lipids Among Prehypertensive Patients.

Pre-experimental one group pertest post-test research design was adopted to investigate the effectiveness of aqueous flower extract of Hibiscus sabdariffa in reduction of blood pressure, serum lipids among 60 prehypertensive patients. A self-structured questionnaire and manual sphygmomanometer and stethoscope monitored blood pressure levels before and after administering Hibiscus sabdariffa extract. Results showed a significant drop in blood pressure levels among prehypertensive patients with a mean difference score of 12.

The pathogenetic processes cause complex effects on brain function and AD progression. The proper protein homeostasis, or proteostasis, is critical for cell health.

InCl catalyzed simultaneous reductive sulfoximination and -silylation: synthesis of silyloxy benzylsulfoximine.

This article describes the synthesis of -silyloxy benzylsulfoximine the reaction of salicylaldehyde and sulfoximine in the presence of silane and InCl. The steps include simultaneous reductive sulfoximination and an -silylation process. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of this kind of reaction, where both reductive amination (here sulfoximination) and -silylation occur concurrently.

Procrastination as a Marker of Anxiety Disorder Among College Students: An Institution-Based Cross-Sectional Study From Puducherry, India.

Background and objective Procrastination, which refers to the act of unnecessarily delaying the beginning or completion of an assigned task, is a widespread but often neglected problem among college students. Postponing a task can impair academic performance or lead to stress and poor mental well-being. A knowledge gap exists in understanding the cyclical nature of the relationship between anxiety and procrastination, wherein anxiety leads to procrastination, which in turn exacerbates anxiety.

Evaluation of the Curing of the Primer on Shear Bond Strength of Orthodontic Brackets: An Original Research.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of separately curing the unfilled resin for increased bond strength of the orthodontic brackets as the literature shows both studies that support and contradict this aspect.

Methodology: The sample consisted of 120 specimens randomly grouped into four of 30. The tooth was cleaned of tissue and debris and stored in a distilled water solution until the procedures of bonding.

Facile synthesis of -(α-furanyl) alkyl sulfoximines gold catalyzed Michael addition/cyclization of enynones and sulfoximines.

Herein, we prepare a new array of -(α-furanyl) alkyl sulfoximines a gold catalyzed reaction of enynone with sulfoximine in moderate to very good yields. The reaction involves Michael addition of sulfoximine to enynone, followed by intramolecular cyclization. The presence of two chiral centres led to the formation of a mixture of diastereomers approximately in a 1 : 1 ratio.

Visible Light Mediated Co-Catalyzed Isocyanide Insertion with Sulfonyl Azide: Synthesis of Sulfonyl Carbamimidic Azide and Sulfonyl Aminotetrazole via Carbodiimide Intermediate.

Herein, we report an operationally simple and efficient protocol to prepare sulfonyl carbamimidic azide and N-sulfonyl aminotetrazole via Co-catalyzed three component coupling of sulfonyl azide (acts as nitrene source), isocyanide, and TMS-azide at room temperature under visible light. Initially, the carbamimidic azide is formed, which cyclizes only in the presence of base to deliver N-sulfonyl aminotetrazole in very good yields. The sulfonyl aminotetrazole can also be synthesized directly without isolating the carbamimidic azide in the presence of base.

Model of Anti-Mullerian Hormone Over Age to Predict Menopause in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Eumenorrheic Women: A Study on Southern Indian Population.

Introduction Anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) is a member of the transforming growth factor β family and is a marker of ovarian reserve; it is produced by the granulosa cells of developing preantral and early antral ovarian follicles. AMH concentration decreases with increasing age. Its concentration is increased relatively in those with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) than eumenorrheic women.

An Uncommon Case of Brucellar Spondylodiscitis: A Case Report.

Introduction: Infective spondylodiscitis refers to simultaneous inflammation of vertebrae and disc and usually occurs through hematogenous spread. The most common presentation of brucellosis is febrile illness, but it can rarely present as spondylodiscitis. Rarely, human cases of brucellosis are diagnosed and treated clinically.

Determination of BMI using non-intrusive measurements are of interest and recent advancements in the availability of digital imaging sensors have paved the way for performing quick and automatic measurements. In this work, we consider automatic computation of BMI using correlation features from face images.

The data present in this article is associated with influence of piperine (secondary metabolite) on the antihyperlipidemic and antioxidant activity of methanolic extract of (METP). METP was evaluated for antihyperlipidemic and antioxidant potential. Phytoconstituents of METP were identified using gas chromatography linked with a mass spectrometer.

Isolated neurofibroma of the eyelid mimicking recurrent chalazion.

Neurofibroma is a peripheral nerve sheath tumor which is seen in neurofibromatosis type 1 and is characterized by various ophthalmic manifestations. Solitary neurofibroma of the eyelid is rare. We report a case of a 53-year-old female patient who presented with a painless swelling in the left upper lid of 4 years' duration.

Primary squamous cell carcinoma arising from palpebral conjunctiva: A rare presentation.

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the conjunctiva usually arises from the limbal conjunctiva. Rarely, it can arise from the palpebral conjunctiva. We report a case of primary conjunctival SCC of the palpebral conjunctiva which was treated successfully.

The dental mesenchymal stem cells are the best explored, but because the human odontogenic epithelium is lost after the completion of enamel formation, studies on these cells are scarce.

Characterization of Precursor PfHsp60 in Plasmodium falciparum Cytosol during Its Asexual Development in Human Erythrocytes.

Mitochondrial heat shock protein 60 (Hsp60) is a nuclear encoded gene product that gets post-translationally translocated into the mitochondria. Using multiple approaches such as immunofluorescence experiments, isoelectric point analysis with two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, and mass spectrometric identification of the signal peptide, we show that Hsp60 from Plasmodium falciparum (PfHsp60) accumulates in the parasite cytoplasm during the ring, trophozoite, and schizont stages of parasite development before being imported into the parasite mitochondria. Using co-immunoprecipitation experiments with antibodies specific to cytoplasmic PfHsp90, PfHsp70-1, and PfHsp60, we show association of precursor PfHsp60 with cytoplasmic chaperone machinery.

An unusual case of pseudochylothorax.

A 25-year-old male patient presented with right-sided pleuritic chest pain and pain in the ankle. Radiological investigations revealed a right sided pleural effusion, lytic lesion in spine D10 with paravertebral abscess. Pleural fluid analysis showed elevated lactate dehydrogenase, adenosine deaminase, increased triglycerides, cholesterol, and no chylomicrons.
