Background And Objectives: Data are limited on the clinical manifestations and outcomes of acute myocarditis from a large-scale registry. We investigated acute myocarditis's clinical characteristics and prognosis from a large-scale, multi-center registry in the Republic of Korea.
Methods: We collected data from seven hospitals between 2001 and 2021.
Polyethylenimine (PEI) is a widely used cationic polymer for nonviral gene delivery, often modified to enhance transfection efficiency and reduce cytotoxicity. This study investigates how acetylation, succinylation (acPEI and zPEI), and pH influence the internal DNA packaging of polyplexes. Both modifications alter physicochemical properties, leading to complexes that decondense more readily with increasing modification.

We hypothesized that patients with a single, ultrasound-suspicious, nonpalpable lymph node (LN) at diagnosis, who do not achieve an n-pCR, will have ypN1 disease on surgical pathology.
Methods: This retrospective study identified breast cancer patients in our institution from 2012 to 2020 with axillary metastasis treated with NAC who did not achieve an n-pCR and had an ALND.

Various diseases, including cancers and inflammatory diseases, are characterized by a disruption of redox homeostasis, suggesting the need for synergistic treatments involving co-delivery of gene therapies and free radical scavengers. In this report, polyethylenimine (PEI), nanoceria (NC), and DNA were complexed to form nanoparticles providing simultaneous delivery of a gene and an antioxidant. The resulting lipids, presented in this manuscript, were characterized and evaluated for their ability to form nanoparticles and subsequently tested for their utility in various biological applications, including gene delivery and immunization. Of the 12 lipids synthesized, 8 formed nanoparticles that remained stable, based on dynamic light scattering, for at least one month.

In this paper, we provide an practical technique for determining the merit of an old observation using system parameters. We demonstrate that the benefit provided by an old observation decreases exponentially with the number of observations captured and processed after it.

The partial differential equation (PDE) model treats simultaneous first-order generation due to chemical reaction and diffusion of reaction products in spherical geometry to capture the microsphere-size-dependent effects of autocatalysis on PLGA erosion that occurs when the microspheres are exposed to aqueous media such as biological fluids. The model is solved analytically for the concentration of the autocatalytic carboxylic acid end groups of the polymer chains that comprise the microspheres as a function of radial position and time.

Methods: A flexible agile development methodology was used to create the software rapidly and effectively. A 3D gaming environment and realistic models were used to engender presence in the software while tutor-determined gold standards enabled students to compare their performance and learn in a problem-based learning pedagogy.
The design of biomaterials for increasingly complex tissue engineering applications often requires exogenous presentation of biomolecular signals. Integration of gene delivery vectors with a biomaterial scaffold offers the potential to bypass the use of expensive and relatively inefficient growth factor supplementation strategies to augment cell behavior. However, integration of cationic polymer based gene delivery vectors within three-dimensional biomaterials, particularly matrices which can carry significant surface charge, remains poorly explored.

We have recently reported the design of hybrid delivery vectors combining retrovirus-like particles with synthetic polymers or lipids that are efficient, provide sustained gene expression and are more stable compared to native retroviruses.
