Buprenorphine is an effective medication for both opioid use disorder (OUD) and chronic pain (CP), but transitioning from full opioid agonists to buprenorphine, a partial opioid agonist, can be challenging. Preliminary studies suggest that low-dose buprenorphine initiation can overcome some challenges in starting treatment, but no randomized controlled trials have compared low-dose and standard buprenorphine initiation approaches regarding effectiveness and safety or examined implementation in hospital settings. In a pragmatic open-label hybrid type I effectiveness-implementation trial based in a single urban health system, 270 hospitalized patients with (a) CP and (b) OUD or opioid misuse are being randomized to buprenorphine treatment initiation using 5-day low-dose or standard initiation protocols.

This study aimed to assess the changes in body weight and composition from admission to discharge and the geriatric variables associated with the changes in geriatric rehabilitation inpatients.
Design: RESORT is an observational, longitudinal cohort.
Tumor mutational burden (TMB) correlates with tumor neoantigen burden, T cell infiltration, and response to immune checkpoint inhibitors in many solid tumor types. Based on data from the phase II KEYNOTE-158 study, the anti-PD-1 antibody pembrolizumab was granted approval for treating patients with advanced solid tumors and TMB ≥ 10 mutations per megabase. However, this trial did not include any patients with metastatic breast cancer; thus, several questions remain unanswered about the true role of TMB as a predictive biomarker of benefit to immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy in breast cancer.

This study aimed to determine whether sarcopenia as a comorbid disease is associated with the incidence of institutionalisation and mortality in geriatric rehabilitation inpatients.
Methods: REStORing health of acutely unwell adulTs (RESORT) includes geriatric rehabilitation patients assessed for sarcopenia (the European Working Group on Sarcopenia in Older People [EWGSOP, 2010], EWGSOP2 [2018], and the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia [AWGS 2019]), multimorbidity, disease severity, and specific diseases (Charlson Comorbidity Index and Cumulative Illness Rating Scale) at admission.
Background: Sarcopenia is highly prevalent in geriatric rehabilitation patients and can worsen prognosis. This study aimed to investigate the association of sarcopenia and components of sarcopenia with 3-month and 1-year post-discharge mortality in geriatric rehabilitation inpatients.
Methods: REStORing health of acutely unwell adulTs (RESORT) is an observational, prospective longitudinal cohort of geriatric rehabilitation inpatients.
Objective: To identify risk factors to pre-surgical complications in patients with cystic echinococcosis (CE) in endemic areas of Peru.
Materials And Methods: Study of cases (n=43) and controls (n=127) not paired was designed, with a case-control ratio of 1:3 based on a secondary source. The case was defined as the patient with CE who presented with pre-surgical complications related or not with the disease and the control without pre-surgical complication.
Introduction: Sarcopenia is highly prevalent in geriatric rehabilitation inpatients; screening using the Strength, Assistance in walking, Rise from a chair, Climb stairs, Falls history questionnaire (SARC-F) has been recommended. This study assessed the diagnostic accuracy of the SARC-F in identifying sarcopenia according to the European Working Group on Sarcopenia in Older People (EWGSOP), EWGSOP2, and Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia (AWGS) definitions in geriatric rehabilitation inpatients.
Methods: REStOring health of acutely unwell adulTs (RESORT) is an observational, longitudinal cohort of geriatric rehabilitation inpatients.

Methods: Non-clinical space was converted into medical units at multiple campuses of a large academic hospital system over 1 week.
Background & Aims: Malnutrition and sarcopenia coexist in older adults, yet they remain largely undiagnosed and untreated, despite available interventions. This study aimed to assess the prevalence, the coexistence of, and the association between malnutrition and sarcopenia in geriatric rehabilitation inpatients.
Methods: REStORing health of acutely unwell adulTs (RESORT) is an observational, longitudinal cohort of geriatric rehabilitation inpatients.
Background: Several studies have shown that conceptions of teachers on teaching and learning can influence the teaching practices and behavior in higher education. This association is also found in undergraduate medical education but not yet established in postgraduate medical setting. An instrument, Conceptions of Learning and Teaching (COLT) was developed to measure conception of teachers in undergraduate medical education.

Methods: We invited postgraduate clinical teachers to fill out COLT (Conceptions on Learning and Teaching) questionnaire, an 18-item instrument designed to measure the conceptions of faculty in undergraduate medical education, and did a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to test if it was valid to be used in a postgraduate situation. Cluster analysis was done to determine different teacher profiles.
Background: Sarcopenia shares risk factors with various other age-related diseases. This meta-analysis aimed to determine the prevalence of sarcopenia as a comorbid disease.
Methods: Medline, EMBASE and Cochrane databases were searched for articles from inception to 8th June 2018, reporting the prevalence of sarcopenia in individuals with a diagnosis of cardiovascular disease (CVD), dementia, diabetes mellitus or respiratory disease and, if applicable their controls.
Background: In postgraduate training, there is a need to continuously assess the learning and working conditions to optimize learning. Students or trainees respond to the learning climate as they perceive it. The Dutch Residency Educational Climate Test (D-RECT) is a learning climate measurement tool with well-substantiated validity.

In this work we compare the standard imaging of various types of nanoparticles deposited on surfaces by atomic force microscopy (AFM) with a complementary analysis of the same samples by either electrostatic force microscopy (EFM) or magnetic force microscopy (MFM). Experiments were carried out on gold nanoparticles (decahedrons and stars) and two different iron oxide systems: goethite (alpha-FeOOH) and hematite (alpha-Fe(2)O(3)). Regardless of the particular geometry, the EFM signal appears to be stronger on edges or tips of pure gold nanoparticles.

Successful uniform growth required surface modification, followed by the attachment of small Au seeds and one-step seeded growth using formaldehyde as a reducing agent, as previously reported for the growth of Au shells on silica spheres and hematite spindles. The thickness and surface roughness of the obtained shells could be adjusted by simply varying the concentration ratio between seeds (modified goethite rods) and growth reagents (HAuCl 4 and formaldehyde).

In order to investigate the interaction between alpha-synuclein wild type (Wt) and its familial mutants, A53T and A30P with lipid membranes, we developed a novel lipid binding assay using surface enhanced laser desorption/ionisation-time of flight-mass spectrometry (SELDI-TOF MS). Wt and A53T exhibited similar lipid binding profiles; monomeric species and dimers bound with high relative affinity to the lipid surface, the latter of which exhibited preferential binding.

It is found that micropatterning the surface using nanosphere lithography leads to large increases in the contact angle and generates superhydrophobic surfaces with contact angles >150 degrees. The type of functional groups on the SAMs, the metal island size, and the metal island thickness all contribute to the measured contact angle.

The title compound, C(48)H(36)N(2)S(4), can be crystallized as two polymorphic structures, (I) and (II), both of which are in the triclinic space group P-1 and possess C(i) symmetry. In the crystal structure of polymorph (I), the adjacent naphthalene moieties are orientated towards one another and are inclined to one another by 78.7 (1) degrees, resulting in weak C-H.
