Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor-Induced Psoriasis: Diagnosis, Management, and a Review of Cases.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are effective antitumor agents but are associated with immune-related adverse events. ICI-induced psoriasis commonly presents in patients with a history of psoriasis but may occur de novo, and it has a significant physical and psychosocial impact. ICI-induced and non-ICI-induced psoriasis are likely mediated by similar cytokines, and similar treatments are employed.

The Impact of Dermatologic Adverse Events on the Quality of Life of Oncology Patients: A Review of the Literature.

Dermatologic adverse events resulting from oncologic therapy are common and negatively impact patients' quality of life. Dermatologic adverse events include toxicity of the skin, oral mucosa, nails, and hair and are seen with cytotoxic chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and radiation therapy, with distinct patterns of dermatologic adverse events by drug class. Here, we review the literature on the impact of dermatologic adverse events on quality of life.

Observation of the Effect of Aging on the Structural Changes of Polyurethane/Polyurea Coatings.

In this study, polyurethane/polyurea coatings were exposed to four different types of aging: aging in the natural environment (NC), accelerated ultraviolet aging (UV), aging in a sodium chloride solution (NaCl), and thermal aging (TC). To monitor the changes that occurred during these processes, the thickness was measured and microscopic and macroscopic observations were conducted continuously. The samples aged under various conditions were then subjected to spectroscopic (FTIR) and thermal (TGA) analysis to determine the possible structural changes in the coatings.

Prevalence of Taurodontism in Contemporary and Historical Populations from Radom: A Biometric Analysis of Radiological Data.

Taurodontism is a morphological anomaly of multirooted molars characterized by apical displacement of the pulp chamber, shortened roots, and the absence of constriction at the dentoenamel junction. It can negatively impact the outcome of dental treatment plans. This study aimed to compare the prevalence of taurodontism among contemporary and historical populations from Radom, Poland.

Frequency of occurrence of taurodontism in the historical population of Radom (11th-19th centuries).

Objective: The aim of the work was to trace possible changes in the frequency of taurodontism in individuals who inhabited historical Radom from the early Middle Ages to modern periods.

Design: The research was based on the analysis of X-ray images of 640 molars of individuals from the 11th/12th c. (n = 120), 14th/17th c.

Psychological Attachment Orientation and Long-Term Posttraumatic Stress Symptoms Among Family Members of ICU Patients.

Taurodontism is a morphological anomaly involving multirooted teeth that is characterized by a vertical shift of the pulp chamber and shortening of the roots. The literature was analyzed to determine the impact of a diagnosis of taurodontism on dental treatment. A total of 85 full-text publications from the years 2005-2021 were analyzed and 20 publications were included in this research.

Pilot Randomized Clinical Trial of a Goals-of-Care Decision Aid for Surrogates of Patients With Severe Acute Brain Injury.

Background And Objectives: Breakdowns in clinician-family communication in neurologic intensive care units (neuroICUs) are common, particularly for goals-of-care decisions to continue or withdraw life-sustaining treatments while considering long-term prognoses. Shared decision-making interventions (decision aids [DAs]) may prevent this problem and increase patient-centered care, yet none are currently available. We assessed the feasibility, acceptability, and perceived usefulness of a DA for goals-of-care communication with surrogate decision makers for critically ill patients with severe acute brain injury (SABI) after hemispheric acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, or traumatic brain injury.

On the Current Care Situation and Treatment of Ocular Mucous Membrane Pemphigoid in Germany.

Background: Ocular involvement in mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP) is relatively rare, with a prevalence of 25 cases per million population, equating to approx. 2,100 patients throughout Germany. Diagnosis can be difficult - especially in cases of isolated ocular involvement - and treatment can be complex and lengthy.

Cutaneous Immune-Related Adverse Events Secondary to Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors and Their Management.

Immunotherapy enhances antitumor activity by relieving inhibition of T cells responsible for immune surveillance. However, overactivation of T cells leads to immune-related adverse events (irAE), of which cutaneous adverse events are the most common.

Powassan Meningoencephalitis: A Case Report Highlighting Diagnosis and Management.

Powassan virus (POWV), a rare flavivirus that may be transmitted by a tick bite, causes rare but severe cases of encephalitis, meningitis, and meningoencephalitis in humans. We present the case of a 62-year-old man with prior Lyme disease and reactive arthritis who presented to the hospital with symptoms of fever, headache, and fatigue. The patient developed rapid deterioration of mental status including profound expressive aphasia and required intubation and high-dose steroids.

Adapting a Traumatic Brain Injury Goals-of-Care Decision Aid for Critically Ill Patients to Intracerebral Hemorrhage and Hemispheric Acute Ischemic Stroke.

Objectives: Families in the neurologic ICU urgently request goals-of-care decision support and shared decision-making tools. We recently developed a goals-of-care decision aid for surrogates of critically ill traumatic brain injury patients using a systematic development process adherent to the International Patient Decision Aid Standards. To widen its applicability, we adapted this decision aid to critically ill patients with intracerebral hemorrhage and large hemispheric acute ischemic stroke.

Investigation of the Quasi-Static Penetration Resistance Behaviour of Carbon/Aramid Fibre-Reinforced PP Laminate.

This work presents the experimental results of a quasi-static attempt at the penetration of hybrid and non-hybrid laminates reinforced with aramid and carbon fibres on a thermoplastic polypropylene matrix. The hybrid laminates were prepared in two fibre combinations: carbon-aramid-carbon (CAC), in which the carbon fibres comprised the outer (lining) layers, and aramid-carbon-aramid (ACA) with carbon fibres in their intermediate layers. The Effects of Hybridisation of Composites Consisting of Aramid, Carbon, and Hemp Fibres in a Quasi-Static Penetration Test.

The quasi-static penetration properties of hybrid laminates were experimentally investigated. Aramid fabrics, carbon fabrics, and short hemp fibres were applied as the reinforcements of hybrid and non-hybrid composite laminates with polyurethane-polyurea (PUR/PUA) matrix.
