Background: Description of a large cohort of Akin osteotomies without fixation (286 feet), to depict the mean angular correction, to analyze complication rates and to pull over with rates described in the literature with other techniques.
Methods: Retrospective single-center cohort study. Five radiologic measurements analyzed preoperatively and postoperatively until fusion was completed.
Background: Nosocomial infections (NIs) represent an important public health issue, being associated with high morbidity, mortality and costs.
Objectives: To identify risk factors of NIs in a cohort of hospitalized pediatric patients, with emphasis in children with special health care needs (CSHCN).
Patients And Methods: We studied patients hospitalized in Sótero del Río Pediatric Hospital at Santiago-Chile, between September and December, 2009.
The immunogenicity of a DNA vaccine containing an open reading frame (ORF) of genomic island 3 (GI-3), specific for Brucella abortus and Brucella melitensis, has been examined. Intramuscular injection of plasmid DNA carrying the open reading frame with homology to an ABC-type transporter (pV278a) into BALB/c mice elicited both humoral and cellular immune responses. Mice injected with pV278a had a dominant immunoglobulin G2a (IgG2a) response.
