Background: Postoperative pain is a common complication following endodontic treatment, often caused by acute inflammatory responses in the periapical tissues. Several factors contribute to this, including inadequate instrumentation, apical extrusion of debris during canal preparation, and other aspects of the procedure. Advances in technology have led to the development of nickel-titanium (NiTi) instruments that have shown potential to reduce postoperative discomfort.

Background: Crohn's disease (CD) is an inflammatory bowel disease marked by an abnormal immune response and excessive pro-inflammatory cytokines, leading to impaired protein processing and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress. This stress, caused by the accumulation of misfolded proteins, triggers the unfolded protein response (UPR) through IRE1/Xbp-1, PERK/eIF2α, and ATF6 pathways, which are linked to intestinal inflammation. This study aimed to investigate ER stress in CD patients' intestinal mucosa and evaluate phenylbutyrate (PBA) as an ER stress inhibitor.

Crohn's disease (CD) involves immune system interactions with intestinal tissue, driven by pro-inflammatory cytokines like Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF-α). Adalimumab, targeting TNF-α, regulates associated inflammatory responses. Despite being humanized, it may induce immunogenic processes, affecting treatment effectiveness.

Recent advancements in biomedical research have enhanced our understanding of IBD's genetic, microbial, and biochemical aspects. However, persistent issues in clinical management, including treatment non-response, surgical interventions, and diagnostic uncertainties, underscore the need for more targeted approaches.

Background: The carcinogenesis of colorectal cancer is well understood. Adenomas are the precursor lesions in about 70% of cases, highlighting the importance of screening programs.
Aims: The aim of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of colonoscopy examinations performed in a private tertiary service by calculating the polyp detection rate (PDR) and adenoma detection rate (ADR) and comparing these rates with literature data.
Background: Hansen's disease is an infectious disease with a slow and chronic evolution that can manifest itself through skin lesions, with changes in thermal, painful and tactile sensitivity, and also affect peripheral nerves, causing significant physical disabilities. This study aimed to analyze the meanings and senses for health workers from outpatient services who provide care to people diagnosed with Hansen's disease.
Methods: This is an exploratory qualitative study that used the Vygotskian theoretical-methodological framework based on the dimension of historical-dialectic materialism that bases its procedures on the use of meaning cores.
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most widespread tumor types, and it stands as the second leading cause of disease-related mortality globally. Due to its adverse effects, which lead to low patient adherence, new alternatives to conventional chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments are being studied. Since, in most cases, platelets are positively involved in the persistence and progression of CRC, several elements of the platelet signaling pathway have been considered possible therapeutic targets.

Methods: This prospective observational study included critically ill adult patients who underwent fluid expansion in the form of a fluid bolus or fluid challenge with crystalloids. All patients were under mechanical ventilation and adequately sedated.

Background/objectives: Crohn's disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory disorder that significantly affects patients' quality of life; conventional treatments often provide limited relief.
Methods: This systematic review and meta-analysis explored the potential of regenerative therapies, particularly platelet-rich plasma (PRP), as an adjunctive treatment for CD. The study protocol was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42024576683), and a comprehensive search was conducted across major databases, such as PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials.

Objective: To conduct a systematic review (SR) to find evidence for a connection between Crohn's disease (CD) and the gut-brain axis (GBA).
Methods: This study conducted a systematic review (SR) employing a search strategy and strict inclusion criteria. It was conducted by searching for studies published between 2017 and 2024 in the following databases: PUBMED, PUBMED PMC, BVS-BIREME, SCOPUS, WEB OF SCIENCE, EMBASE, and COCHRANE.

Background: Misoprostol is largely used in labor induction in cases of intrauterine fetal death. However, recent randomized clinical trials (RCTs) showed that the combination of mifepristone and misoprostol might have better effects than the use of misoprostol alone.
Objectives: To compare mifepristone and misoprostol lines of treatment.
Introduction: Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory disorder that affects the pilosebaceous unit. Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) can emerge as a complication.
Presentation Of Case: A 58-year-old male patient with a history of smoking, obesity, and type 2 diabetes was initially managed by a dermatology team for Follicular Occlusion Syndrome manifesting as HS.
Objectives: to evaluate the relative risk of smoking cessation treatment dropout during its intensive phase.
Methods: a retrospective and quantitative cohort study was developed from the electronic medical records of individuals who started smoking cessation treatment between 2015 and 2019 at a specialty clinic in a city in the interior of São Paulo, Brazil. The relative risk of dropping out of treatment was calculated using the Poisson regression model.
This article aims to know the perception of women on obstetric violence from a racial perspective. This was a qualitative study carried out in a public maternity hospital with 25 women in the city of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and participant observation from November 2021 to February 2022.

Inguinal lymph node dissection is associated with various intraoperative and postoperative complications with significant heterogeneity in classification and reporting. This lack of standardization challenges efforts to study and report inguinal lymph node dissection outcomes.

This study aimed to evaluate saccharin sorghum silage from fertilization with vinasse.
Methods: The research was conducted using the BRS-511, CR-1339, and CR-1342 geno-types.

Papillomaviruses (PVs) have been identified in several animal species, including dogs (canine papillomaviruses, CPVs) and cattle (bovine papillomaviruses, BPVs). Although some BPVs may occasionally infect species other than cattle, to the best of our knowledge, BPVs have not been reported in dogs to date. Herein, we carried out a retrospective phylogenetic study of PVs circulating in dogs from southern Brazil between 2017 and 2022, also investigating possible mixed infections and spillover events.

Evidence is compelling in documenting negative effects on the individual's neurodevelopment following exposure to adverse or disadvantaged environments such as institutionalization or maltreatment. Neuroimaging research focused specifically on attachment-relevant processing of socioemotional stimuli and attachment outcomes among children looked-after is scarcer, but largely consistent.

Hansen's disease is marked by stigma and prejudice, because it carries with it a strong negative social image, reinforced by policies of social isolation in the community.
Methods: A qualitative study was conducted in Ribeirão Preto, an inland city of the state of São Paulo, Brazil.
Quilombolas are ethnic-racial groups, of black ancestry, and had their territories consolidated in Brazil in regions with difficult access and far from large centers. The objective of this study is to know the therapeutic itinerary (IT) adopted by quilombola women in traditional communities located in the North of the state of Minas Gerais. This is a qualitative study with the theoretical model using the Arthur Kleinman health care system.
