Background And Objectives: This qualitative study explored perceived community strengths and health issues among 3 underserved and under-studied populations in the Atlanta, Georgia-older adults, Black or African American persons, and refugees/immigrants/migrants.

Methods: Eight focus groups were conducted with 92 participants who were members of the 3 populations in Atlanta between November 2022 and March 2023.

Results: Although there were variations among groups, all groups emphasized diversity within their community as the foundation of community strength.

A large fraction of the genome interacts with the nuclear periphery through lamina-associated domains (LADs), repressive regions which play an important role in genome organization and gene regulation across development. Despite much work, LAD structure and regulation are not fully understood, and a mounting number of studies have identified numerous genetic and epigenetic differences within LADs, demonstrating they are not a uniform group. Here we profile Lamin B1, HP1β, H3K9me3, H3K9me2, H3K27me3, H3K14ac, H3K27ac, and H3K9ac in MEF cell lines derived from the same mouse colony and cluster LADs based on the abundance and distribution of these features across LADs.

Background: Long-term use of levodopa, a metabolic precursor of dopamine (DA) for alleviation of motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease (PD), can cause a serious side effect known as levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID). With the development of LID, high-frequency gamma oscillations (~100 Hz) are registered in the motor cortex (MCx) in patients with PD and rats with experimental PD. Studying alterations in the activity within major components of motor networks during transition from levodopa-off state to dyskinesia can provide useful information about their contribution to the development of abnormal gamma oscillations and LID.

Results: Results: The increased levels of all interleukins both in 2nd control and experimental groups versus 1st control group were found.

Older adults who smoke are half as likely to make a quit attempt, but more likely to maintain abstinence using evidence-based treatments. Awareness of the increased risk of dementia among people who currently smoke may motivate cessation in this population, but messages have not been tested. 820 adults who smoke, ages 50-80, with no history of dementia completed an online survey examining one of three randomly assigned messages (Control N = 266, Fear N = 274, Hope N = 280) on motivation and intentions to quit.

A series of novel photo- and ionochromic N-acylated 2-(aminomethylene)benzo[]thiophene-3(2)-ones with a terminal phenanthroline receptor substituent was synthesized. Upon irradiation in acetonitrile or DMSO with light of 436 nm, they underwent - isomerization of the C=C bond, followed by very fast N→O migration of the acyl group and the formation of nonemissive O-acylated isomers. Indeed, the hostile environment causes important health problems, ranging from muscle atrophy, osteopenia, and immunological and metabolic alterations due to microgravity, to an increased risk of cancer caused by exposure to radiation.
