We sought to examine how resistance training (RT) status in young healthy individuals, either well resistance trained (T, n=10) or untrained (UT, n=11), affected molecular markers with leg immobilization followed by recovery RT. All participants underwent two weeks of left leg immobilization via a locking leg brace. Afterwards, all participants underwent eight weeks (3 d/week) of knee extensor focused progressive RT.

Some research suggests that males diagnosed with BPD present differently to women, but not much is known about how this influences the care men receive in inpatient mental health hospitals. WHAT THE PAPER ADDS TO EXISTING KNOWLEDGE?: This paper is the first to specifically ask inpatient staff about men diagnosed with BPD, and to hear about their perceptions and experiences.

There has been increased attention toward TGNC people across academic, political, and healthcare fields since the previous review, as well as shifts in language use and health interventions, justifying a need for more contemporary understandings.

Background: Elite pitchers have demonstrated significant differences in glenohumeral range of motion and humeral torsion compared with the nonthrowing population. Furthermore, abnormal shoulder range of motion measurements have been associated with different injury risks and challenges in assessing rehabilitation progress. Variations in range of motion and torsion due to handedness in the asymptomatic professional population have yet to be investigated in the literature.

Transition Needs Compassion: a Thematic Analysis of an Online Compassion-Focused Therapy Group in a Gender Service.

Objectives: Transgender and gender non-conforming people may face elevated rates of shame and self-criticism in light of minority stress. Compassion-focused therapy has a growing evidence base in addressing trans-diagnostic processes in mental health difficulties, including shame and self-criticism. The objective of the present study was to explore the experience of an initial pilot compassion-focused therapy group delivered online in a Gender Service during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Changes in night sky brightness after a countywide LED retrofit.

The US National Park Service (NPS) Night Skies Program measured changes in sky brightness resulting from a countywide lighting retrofit project. The retrofit took place in Chelan County, a gateway community to North Cascades National Park and Lake Chelan National Recreation Area in Washington State. The county retrofitted all 3693 county-owned high pressure sodium (HPS) street lamps to full cutoff LEDs.

'Someone on my level': A Meta-Ethnographic Review of Therapeutic Relationships in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis.

Objectives: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp) demonstrates variable and at times mild to moderate effect sizes; thus, its therapeutic processes are important to explore. Establishing a secure therapeutic relationship is one such key process where barriers may exist, including those related to psychotic symptoms and associated stigma. This review synthesizes the available qualitative research pertaining to the experience of the therapeutic relationship from the perspective of those experiencing psychosis.

Evidence base for early intervention in psychosis services in rural areas: A critical review.

Aim: Early Intervention in Psychosis teams (EITs) are a growing entity internationally, yet they remain under-researched given challenges facing their delivery. Model adaptations include stand-alone services, a hub-and-spoke model with various bases and integrating specialist staff into existing mental health teams. The present critical review focuses on reviewing the evidence base for the delivery of EITs in rural areas, first pertaining to evidence for model adherence and second to clinically outcomes.

A 2-y-old female Grant's zebra ( Equus quagga [ burchellii] boehmi) was presented with a clinical history of depression, anorexia, and weakness of 1-wk duration. Postmortem examination identified ulcers on the tongue and palate; a large abscess adjacent to the larynx; left lung consolidation; mild swelling, darkening, and congestion of the liver with accentuation of the lobular pattern; and edema and congestion of the distal small and large intestines. Histologic examination identified necrotizing bronchopneumonia, necrotizing hepatitis, nephritis, and enterocolitis.

Background: Pitching biomechanical analysis has been recommended as an important component of performance, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. Normal values for youth pitching stride length have not been established, leading to application of normative values found among professional pitchers to youth pitchers.

Hypotheses: The average youth pitching stride length will be significantly less than that of college and professional pitchers.

Mechanical interdependence between intrapulmonary structures and parenchyma has not been studied previously in immature postnatal lungs. To study these interactions, lung elastic moduli were measured by pressure-volume and punch indentation studies in lobes excised from 3-day-old (n = 6), 1-month-old (n = 6), and 3-month-old (n = 7) piglets. After extra-alveolar arteries were filled with a radiopaque fluid silicone compound, transpulmonary pressure and arterial pressure were varied independently as the lobar vein was occluded.

Several manifestations of lung disease during infancy suggest that mechanical interdependence can be relatively high in newborn lungs. To test this possibility, we measured elastic moduli and pleural membrane tension in lungs excised from piglets ranging in age from less than 12 h to 85 days. Near maximum inflation, newborn lungs (less than 12 h, n = 6) had no detectable pleural membrane tension, although 3- to 5-day-old lungs (n = 6) had tension greater than 5,000 dyn/cm.

The morphology and behavior of living exoerythrocytic stages of Plasmodium gallinaceum and P. fallax were studied by the use of tissue cultures, phase contrast microscopy, and time-lapse cinephotomicrography. The morphology of exoerythrocytic stages of these two species was essentially that previously observed in fixed, stained material, with the following exceptions: (1) the presence of a filament on one end of the merozoite, (2) the absence of clefts in the cytoplasm of the large schizonts, and (3) the absence of a vacuole-like space around the parasite.
