Purpose: We hypothesized that radiation-induced tubulointerstitial changes in the kidney can be assessed using MRI-based T relaxation time measurements.
Methods: We performed MRI, histology, and serum biochemistry in two mouse models of radiation nephropathy: one involving external beam radiotherapy and the other using internal irradiation with an α-particle-emitting actinium-225 radiolabeled antibody. We compared the mean T values of different renal compartments between control and external beam radiotherapy or α-particle-emitting actinium-225 radiolabeled antibody-treated groups and between the two radiation-treated groups using a Wilcoxon rank-sum test.
A workflow for developing a cost- and time-efficient, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)-based assay for species and hybrid identification is described. In a reference set (n = 46), the developed assay identified individuals of two closely related species, the Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L., n = 23) and brown trout (Salmo trutta, n = 23), with 100% accuracy.

The advancement of riverine fish habitat models intended to provide management insights has slowed. Investigations into theoretical and empirical gaps to define habitat more comprehensively across different scales and ecological organizations are crucial in managing the freshwater biodiversity crisis.

Summary: The Pharmacogenomic Testing for Veterans (PHASER) program provides preemptive pharmacogenomic testing for veterans nationally.
Freshwater ecosystems and their bordering wetlands and riparian zones are vital for human society and biological diversity. Yet, they are among the most degraded ecosystems, where sharp declines in biodiversity are driven by human activities, such as hydropower development, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. Because freshwater ecosystems are characterized by strongly reciprocal linkages with surrounding landscapes, human activities that encroach on or degrade riparian zones ultimately lead to declines in freshwater-riparian ecosystem functioning.

Targeted alpha-particle therapy selectively delivers cytotoxic payloads to tumors with radiolabeled molecules that recognize tumor-associated antigens. We have recently demonstrated the potential of an FDA approved, humanized anti-GD2 antibody, hu3F8, as a targeted delivery vector for radiopharmaceutical imaging of OS.

Typically, molecules are functionalized for specific attachment to a glass surface at one end and a micrometer-scale paramagnetic bead at the other end. By applying an external magnetic field, multiple molecules can be stretched and twisted simultaneously without exposure to potentially damaging radiation.

Refractory CINV can be particularly difficult to control. This report provides details on the implementation and evaluation of a pharmacist-led program for the management of refractory CINV in hematology and oncology clinics.

A literature review of PubMed was conducted and studies were included if they were classified as a clinical trial and assessed TKI and ICI combinations for solid tumor malignancies. Dates of literature search included January 1, 1988 through September 22, 2019.

Summary: The cardiotoxic effects of targeted systemic cancer therapies represents a new paradigm of cancer treatment associated cardiovascular adverse events. National guidelines regarding optimal monitoring and management strategies for hypertension and QT interval prolongation associated with use of these therapies are lacking.
Over the past 5 decades, scientists have been documenting negative anthropogenic environmental change, expressing increasing alarm, and urging dramatic socioecological transformation in response. A host of international meetings have been held, but the erosion of biological diversity continues to accelerate. Why, then, has no effective political action been taken? We contend that part of the answer may lie in the anthropocentric ethical premises and moral rhetoric typically deployed in the cause of conservation.

Summary: Currently, four PARP-inhibitors (olaparib, rucaparib, niraparib, and talazoparib) are FDA-approved, with olaparib, rucaparib, and niraparib approved for treatment and/or maintenance or ovarian cancer and olaparib and talazoparib approved for the treatment of recurrent metastatic BRCA-mutant, HER2-negative breast cancer. While the PARP-inhibitor class is generally are well-tolerated, each agent does possess a unique side-effect profile.
Porphyrins have been widely used in the self-assembly of metallo-supramolecules. In this study, we introduced 2,2':6,2"-terpyridine (tpy) into a porphyrin core to synthesize a tetratopic building block with multiple conformers. During the self-assembly with Zn(II), such a mixture of conformers was able to form a discrete nanoprism with all building blocks in one conformation.

Qualitatively, it can be seen that signals that have propagated in different environments have distinct structures: in some cases, a single mode is identified, in others, multiple modes can be seen; signals can also be distinguished by different energy levels. Features that are employed here comprise relative amplitudes of distinct peaks in the signals, signal kurtosis, signal strength, decay of the time-series with time, and time difference between distinct peaks of the received signals.

Methods: Between June 2006 and September 2016, data of patients who underwent robot-assisted partial nephrectomy at the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwziekenhuis Hospital in Aalst, Belgium, were retrospectively reviewed from a prospectively collected database. Only patients with non-metastatic, clinical T1-T2 graded tumors were included.
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a well-recognized health problem, with an estimated worldwide prevalence of 25%. It is associated with metabolic syndrome (MetSx) and complications such as cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. However, the main cause of death in patients with NAFLD is derived from cardiovascular disease, and outcome seems to be determined by the degree of hepatic fibrosis.

Methods: Retrospective chart reviews were conducted on patients 18+ years with multiple myeloma that underwent autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplant at UW Health from January 2012 to May 2016. Data collection included demographics, length of stay, time to engraftment, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status score, and hematopoietic cell transplantation-comorbidity index.
Research on the values of fish populations and fisheries has primarily focused on bio-economic aspects; a more nuanced and multidimensional perspective is mostly neglected. Although a range of social aspects is increasingly being considered in fisheries research, there is still no clear understanding as to how to include these additional values within management policies nor is there a cogent appreciation of the major knowledge gaps that should be tackled by future research. This paper results from a workshop held during the 50th anniversary symposium of the Fisheries Society of the British Isles at the University of Exeter, UK, in July 2017.

However, their chronic use is related to memory loss, emotional instability, insomnia, psychosis and paranoia. Conservationists, however, need to embrace the genomics revolution and use new insights to improve salmonid management. At the same time, researchers must be forthcoming with the uses and limitations of genomics, and conservation must move forward in the face of scientific uncertainty.
