In a cohort followed from late adolescence until established adulthood, this study examined how singlehood, cohabitation, and marriage are related to well-being at different ages across early adulthood and into established adulthood.Participants ( = 585) from three U.S.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA growing number of adults are spending more of their lifetime as single, either because they are taking longer to form unions, are re-entering singlehood after the dissolution of unions, or are avoiding union formation all together. Nevertheless, existing relationship research still generally positions singlehood as something to avoid, limiting our understanding of the rapidly evolving position of singlehood within the lifecourse as well as its implications for health and well-being. Thus, this special issue includes four articles that collectively offer theoretical and empirical inquiries of developmental and historical trends in singlehood and relationship histories, examine the antecedents and consequences of these trends, and explore how they vary based on salient sociodemographic characteristics.

Background: Across several sites in the United States, we examined whether kindergarten conduct problems among mostly population-representative samples of children were associated with increased criminal and related (criminal + lost offender productivity + victim; described as criminal + victim hereafter) costs across adolescence and adulthood, as well as government and medical services costs in adulthood.
Methods: Participants (N = 1,339) were from two multisite longitudinal studies: Fast Track (n = 754) and the Child Development Project (n = 585). Parents and teachers reported on kindergarten conduct problems, administrative and national database records yielded indexes of criminal offending, and participants self-reported their government and medical service use.
Pericarditis of varying severity is being recognized as a rare complication of the COVID-19 infection. We present a patient with an electrocardiogram (EKG) and physical exam findings that initially seemed to most likely be pericarditis related to the COVID-19 infection. The differential diagnosis was a bit difficult because it included ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) due to some EKG changes and early repolarization changes that were rather robust.

We investigated the extent of parent-adolescent agreement about early adolescents' peer victimization experiences as well as predictors of parent-adolescent agreement. Participants included a diverse community sample of early adolescents ( = 80; = 12.

We also examined sex differences. Participants ( = 1,339) were drawn from two multisite longitudinal studies: Fast Track and the Child Development Project.

Two independent samples from the Child Development Project (CDP; = 585; 48% girls; 81% White, 17% Black, 2% other race/ethnicity) and Fast Track (FT; = 463; 45% girls; 52% White, 43% Black, 5% other race/ethnicity) were recruited in childhood and followed through age 34 (CDP) or 32 (FT). Predictors of substance use were assessed in adolescence based on adolescent and parent reports and in early adulthood based on adult self-reports.

[H]Spongistatin 1 was found to bind rapidly to tubulin at a single site (the low specific activity of the [H]spongistatin 1, 0.75 Ci/mmol, prevented our defining an association rate), and the inability of spongistatin 1 to cause an aberrant assembly reaction was confirmed.

In Study 1 (Fast Track [FT]), 463 age-5 children (45% girls; 43% Black) were first assessed in 1991 and followed through age 32 (83% retention). In Study 2 (Child Development Project [CDP]), 585 age-5 children (48% girls, 17% Black) were first assessed in 1987 and followed through age 34 (78% retention).

We tested whether adolescent CU traits and conduct problems were associated with theoretically relevant adult outcomes 12-18 years later. Participants were drawn from two studies: higher-risk Fast Track (FT; n = 754) and lower-risk Child Development Project (CDP; n = 585).

This review explores refractive outcomes prior to modern biometry; advances in biometry and its impact on patients' vision and refractive outcomes after cataract surgery; key factors that affect prediction accuracy; and residual refractive errors and the impact on visual outcomes. There are numerous pre-, intra-, and post-operative factors that can influence refractive outcomes after cataract surgery, leaving surgeons with a small "error budget" (i.

Building on this work, we applied a macro approach to elucidate the extent to which historical trends toward destabilization and destandardization are occurring at the aggregate among a key set of social roles (union formation, education, residential independence, and employment) and across the whole of adulthood. Applying a historical-developmental approach, we also document how historical trends toward destabilization and destandardization vary by age.

We provide an update on research about coping with parent, peer, and romantic stress and discuss the effectiveness of coping strategies across cultures, developmental periods, and levels of social stress. We explore relations between coping and other automatic and reflective responses to stress and highlight innovations in lab-based and ambulatory assessments.

We hypothesized that early childhood physical abuse would prospectively predict adult outcomes in education and economic stability, physical health, mental health, substance use, and criminal behavior.
Methods: Researchers in two multisite studies recruited children at kindergarten entry and followed them into adulthood.
Reproductive behavior characteristics may be influenced by both social and individual factors. Recent studies have revealed that personality traits might be related to reproductive characteristics in adulthood. Little is known about potential mediators or moderators of relations between personality and reproductive behavior.

This prospective study follows students across adolescence, investigating links between social withdrawal and two types of parenting hypothesized to impact or be reactive to changes in social withdrawal.
Methods: Adolescent social withdrawal and parenting were assessed across seven years in a U.
The remarkable biological activity of the dolastatin 10 structural modifications quinstatins and isoquinstatins prompted further investigation into drug hybrids containing biologically active isoquinoline moieties. In this study, the isoquinoline alkaloid emetine was selected as one of the structural domains of a hybrid molecule. That was accomplished by covalently bonding the Dov-Val-Dil-Dap peptide sequence of dolastatin 10 peptide at the N-2' secondary amine of emetine.
